I'm going to the show in Tuscaloosa in a few weeks. I know the hate is strong on this board for DMB, but I actually love them and they always put on a great show, as do Tim and Dave.

I have no complaints. Show was great. Decent eye candy.

Only complaint was the chick that had the seat next to me smelled bad. I literally had to turn my head. Also, had my last beer or two standing up in the back.

Any time I see Dave play, in any format, someone in the crowd ruins the experience. It's either crowded with frat stars and sorostitutes talking too loud through all but the radio hits or smelly hippies who don't know what a shower is. He always always always puts on a great show, but I can't enjoy it. His fans just suck.

ETA: Only way I ever see another Dave show is at a music fest so I don't feel obligated to stay through the whole thing when the crowd ends up being a normal Dave crowd.

Have you been lately? Seems like the last 3-4 years the crowd has aged and is pretty mellow. We even joked with the old folks next to us last year that it isn't the same old beer bong and weed smoking crowd like it was back in the late 90s when we started going. I'll be there next week and it is almost 18 years to the day from my first concert. Back then it was college kids and my group were seniors in high school. People popping pills and smoking and acting crazy. 4 years ago we went and my wife was 7 months pregnant and we lucked into great seats with an older couple in front of us that sat the entire time. She loved that she could sit if she wanted to and still see. Far cry from the time in atlanta some dude started peeing right behind us back in the early 2000s.

There were a lot of older folks and soccer moms on a night out.

But then a lot of college aged dudes too, or just out of college. Being here in Houston they had a STRONG Aggie lean. Jeans, Red Wing Boots, and plaid. Only difference in 20 years is that the shirts are now untucked.

Small, new, indoor venue so I only caught a whiff of weed once or twice. Not like a Woodlands show on the lawn.

Got some of that last year as well. Two of them were drunk next to us and one started dancing on me. Thought I was going to have to restrain my wife for a second, but she was laughing too hard to care. Still not sure if it was at them or at me.

Has anyone here been to Tuscaloosa amp? What's it like as far as beer prices, cash only, etc?

Haven't been. Just hoping that the rain holds off. I'll flip my shite if my best chance to see Dave and Tim is cancelled.

Yes, several times. Beer prices are very reasonable. Want to say $5 for Bud Lights varieties, and $7 for Premiums. Their premiums kind of suck though - Goose Island mostly.

Cash or credit. They usually have a Cash Only line that moves a little faster. If you're in the seats towards the back, the beer stands at the back move really fast and you can still see the stage from the line.

I went to see Phish the last time they were there. The show itself was terrible, but the venue was pretty cool. I'd definitely go back.

Also the main entrance is always backed up getting in. There's another entrance, stage left down the hill a little bit. Much quicker to get in there. If you take the bus from downtown, that's where they'll drop you off.

Is this for the 12 or 16 oz cans? I mostly go to Oak Mountain and they are more expensive, like $12-14, but those are the 25 oz cans so you can grab two of those and stick to your seats for a while.

I'm not sure where we're going to park. I'm going with my wife's cousin and his dad lives nearby. We're meeting up somewhere downtown that's less than a mile away from the amp so we may just walk it from there.

16oz cans I think. Definitely not 12 oz.

It's an easy walk from downtown, but walking back is up a pretty steep hill. Parking downtown is kind of a bitch though, unless you get there early enough. There's a parking deck I think on 6th St & 23rd Ave. That's where the buses run from to the amphitheater.

Thanks. We're meeting at some place called The Alcove. Looks like it is just a couple blocks from that deck.
