and what made it the best???

A buddy called me one night when I was 17 and told me he had an extra ticket to the Ted Nugent/Kiss concert in New Orleans.
Picked me up in his Dad's new Toyota Supra Celica GT and we hauled arse there
Concert was great and we had an awesome time with 2 girls we met that were down to party that night.

Not the best 2 bands to be seen but the whole night made for awesome memories

Other than always the last one I attended -- live music brings me joy -- it's a tie between The Civil Wars and Nickel Creek, both at Birmingham's Alabama Theater.

The first because we knew something was very wrong and that we would likely not ever see them together again, the second because we had thought the same thing for 15 years when Nickel Creek went on hiatus. At NC, folks all around me were in tears at the end of the show, tears of joy at being able to see them one more time.

I was stationed out in Cali back in 1987. Caught The Cult and Billy Idol at the L.A. Forum. The show was great. Never saw that many fine chicks under one roof in my life! Great weekend!

The Who.Lakewood Amphitheater,Atlanta.86' I think.

2 hits of Blotter. Was about 65 yards from Townshend. They played most of Tommy.

Jane's Addiction at UAB Amphitheater in 90' was good.

REM put on a good show in 92' I think.

Red Hot Chili Peppers at Voodoo.

From the can't stop intro to the jam with the Meters to the Hand clap song that concert was incredible.

After that, I'd say probably My Morning Jacket for 4 hours at Bonnaroo

Little Feat on the Riverboat President for Jazz Fest in 1988. It was their first concert after the death of Lowell George and they were really pumped up. The crowd was really into it. They also had Bonnie Raitt, Jimmy Buffet, and Ed Bradley join the band.

BTO '75
Led Zeppelin '77
Bruce Springsteen '78
The Who '80
The Kinks '80 (the Centroplex was nearly empty after the opening act, LeRoux, played. My buddies and are were mere feet away from the band.)
The Rolling Stones '81

The worst was Aerosmith in '78. The sound quality was horrid and Steven Tyler and Joe Perry were so loaded they could hardly stand up.

Def Leppard - Oakland 1992

Over 2 hours, in the round, no opening act (all Def Leppard), I was in the front row of the lowest balcony and the second (last) encore was Photograph, my favorite song.

Only Steven Clark being alive could have made it better.

I was on active duty in Monterey, CA - Mrs. Midnight and I went up just for the concert and that was our only trip to the bay area that whole year. And 9 months after the concert, we had twins.

Ramones at Tip's in '86 or so.

They played their best. They played them without change from studio. The crowd, including Fred(Cowboy Mouth), was totally nuts.
