Cool Hand Luke:

"What we've got here is failure to communicate".

Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.

A Few Good Men:

" You can't handle the truth!"

Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives.

You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall -- you need me on that wall.

We use words like "honor," "code," "loyalty." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it.

I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand the post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think you're entitled to!

I was there. Yeah, it was called the '80s. Ford was President, Nixon was in the White House and FDR was running this country into the ground. I was bummin' in a hole-in-a-wall town in what is now called Utah. Some fella from Colorado shows up, starts making so called "improvements", right? Before we knew what hit us, the streets are running with latte. It got so bad that a fella that liked to, you know... smoke a little grass or drink a little ripple. Crow like a rooster, maybe challenge the mayor's son to a gentlemen's duel, was "uncouth, against God." More like bad real estate values. Stumpy had to go!

Gus McCrae: I told you, Woodrow, a long time ago it ain't Greek, it's Latin.

Woodrow Call: Well what does it say in Latin?

[Gus blusters some gibberish]

Woodrow Call: For all you know it invites people to rob us.

Gus McCrae: Well the first man comes along that can read Latin is welcome to rob us, far as I'm concerned. I'd like a chance t' shoot at a educated man once in my life.

Woodrow Call: How do I know you won't start missin' your wife after about five miles and decide to quit?

Po Campo: My wife is in hell; where I sent her. She made good biscuits, but her behavior was terrible

Gus McCrae: A man who wouldn't cheat for a poke don't want one bad enough.

So, so many:

"Well, lets not start sucking each others dicks just yet"

The wolf - Pulp Fiction

"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses"

Elwood Blues - The Blues Borthers

"If I'm wrong, we'll go to jail peacefully, quietly, we'll enjoy it. But if I'm right and we can stop this thing, then Lennny, you will have saved the lives of millions or registered voters"

Peter Venkman - Ghostbusters

"From what i hear you couldn't water if you fell out of a fricking boat"

"Wow, that thing got out of here in a hurry. anything that travels that far ought to have a damn stewardess on it don't ya think?"

Crash Davis - Bull Durham

"YOU'LL BE SHOT FOR THIS"

Nah I don;t think so, more like chewed out, I been chewed out before"

Aldo the Apache - Inglorious Basterds

This thread really illustrates my point about these admittedly excellent Oscar bait films

if you read through this thread, there are just so many images and lines that resonate in our collective memory. That's why I'll always contend that a movie like "raiders of the lost ark" is infinitely better than "chariots of fire"

this thread is just kind of exemplifies what we love about the movies.

True story - that was actually QT's wallet. He just handed it to SLJ right before the shoot.

I've met QT, and he is most certainly not a "bad motherfricker"

his wallet should say, "creepy motherfricker"
