There are a lot of actors who had great tenures at SNL but never got the mass notoriety or had the post-SNL fame that many others had.

My list would include:

Kevin Nealon
Chris Parnell
Tim Meadows
Julia Sweeney
Jan Hooks

Meadows is underrated in general, I find him funny in most small parts he pops in as....He's always good on The Goldbergs

Taran Killam. Every skit he was in he dominated and was usually hilarious.

This one always cracked me up:

His Buford Calloway character (ATL Snowstorm Survivor) was hilarious. Should've been a reoccurring character.

Jan Hooks is probably the best example. I usually forget she was even on the show, but then I'll watch old clips she's in and she was brilliant.

the correct answer is molly shannon
appearing from 1995- 2001, she was the longest tenured female cast member in SNL history at the time she left appearing in 116 episodes

Kristin Wigg wishes she could be as good as Jan Hooks.

I wouldn't call her underrated for people who watched her. I mean, she's up there with Phil Hartman as one of the best of all-time.

People talk about Gilda still and Jane Curtin and Myers and Murphy and Chase and Aykroyd, etc. But for the 1980's - the best decade for SNL IMO. It was Hartman and Hooks that really saved and revived the show...

Murphy left real early in the decade...and the show stunk.

Lorne Michaels came back and fired everyone...and the 1986 season was born:

Dana Carvey
Nora Dunn
Phil Hartman
Jan Hooks

Victoria Jackson
Jon Lovitz
Dennis Miller
A. Whitney Brown
Kevin Nealon

Those two were the stars of the show for 4 years. Mike Myers didn't come on until 1988 and didn't feature Wayne's World until 1989.
