Jan Hooks, "I didn't evolve from you"

She was great as Kathie Lee.

Why is my Larry David comment getting down voted? I'm not talking about his Bernie Sanders portrayal. He was a full time cast member for one season. So was Gilbert Gottfried.

"Jan Hooks...we always thought of her as the female Phil Hartman...she could play anything and do anything." - Jon Lovitz

Chris Kattan. He made Night at the Roxbury and Corky Romano after the show but that was pretty much it.

Kattan was fricking awful. Seriously, all of his characters were just gay and anyone could have done his Roxbury character.

Listen behind the scenes stories, and Kattan was loathed by every cast member. He was a nightmare in the writers room who contributed nothing to the show. Norm destroying Kattan behind the scenes are some of the best SNL stories ever.

Kattan made his bed by treating everyone like shite and thinking he was better and funnier than everyone, and now he can't get a job because he's not funny and burnt every bridge in the industry. I'd say he's easily in the debate for being the worst cast member that got a decent amount of airtime.

As for most underrated, I'd say Chris Parnel. The guy was a less funny Phil Hartman, but he still really helped hold the show together and was talented.

Yeah, save for Kattan, I don't think there is anyone on the cast who doesn't have high praise for Norm. He's still widely regarded as the best Update anchor, even by the current SJW cast.

When I see Chris Kattan's name I only think of Norm humiliating him just before they went live one night. The 1986 cast I consider to be the mold for all following casts. Too bad they will never get that again.

I think Jason Sedeikis gets my vote. He was Phil Hartman lite and that era was the last I watched of the show.
Many people also don't realize that Harry Shearer was on the show.

Bill Murray. He really took off in Stripes, and his subsequent movie career. He was a bit too sublime for SNL.

Taran Killam. Every skit he was in he dominated and was usually hilarious.
