They said it had been 60 days since the shoot out with the murderers that caused caspers death.

I still don't like how NP has to put in these words that nobody uses. We get it, you're a walking dictionary but most people don't talk like that so it feels forced. This episode was good though and I hope the next 3 build on it.

McAdams' character is so unlikable it's ridiculous. How is it that we don't get one good shot of red head's titties? Gay cop story is terrible. Why was Colin's ex so pissed at the divorce hearing? I guess because she found out that they caught the real rapist, not sure why that would make her more upset with him though? And how would CF not have heard about it? And for being cops, why is it taking so long to go back to the mayors son or follow him since he talked about "high end events" that he runs?

ETA: Oh and after Frank opens the door, the look on CF right at the end of this episode is perfect

I've meant to mention this before. TD, last season or this season, is not intended to be "realistic" as most people think of the term. The dialogue is purposefully constructed for reasons of theme, character and story . . . like most noir movies. And the shootout that left the three main cops the only ones alive and kicking, of course, is highly unlikely to happen in real life. But that's not the point.

so you're saying it should be titled "literary detective"?

Did anyone else notice that the Intro song was different?

The whole 2nd part of the lyrics were changed......Interesting.

I think it was different for the second episode as well.

TD last season was much more realistic in terms of normalcy in the writing. I agree with the other poster that it seems forced and constantly reminds you that you're watching actors. A run-down crooked cop from a city like Vinci should not speak so eloquently and cryptic; it's too unrealistic.

Marty in season 1 was perfect and very realistic IMO. Witty, but not so witty that it was unbelievable.

It stalled on me a couple of times but I just had to get out of the episode and go back in and then it was fine. Some scenes were kind of choppy.

Haven't read the thread, but thought this was a really good episode. It cleared some things up and somewhat redeemed the atrocity that was episode 4.

Has anybody mentioned how Rick Springfield looks a lot Jim Jones? I think it's too early for the mastermind to get his arse beat like that, but maybe a slight allusion to some cultish things to come.

I think we got confirmation on a few of the things we assumed. We knew Rick Springfield was involved, and it probably had to do with trafficking. We thought Frank's (formerly) head goon was up to something. We suspected that Frank gave Velcoro the wrong guy. It was clear the land was being poisoned so it could be bought for cheap. And we assumed the missing girl was part of this trafficking.

Now, the one guy I didn't think was involved was Dixon. We saw him taking pictures of Paul and his "3 days in the desert" dude, but that's about it. Now it looks like he was right in the middle of this. I suspect he was a puppet for the mayor, and his usefulness had expired, so part of the reason for the shootout was to take him out. And he was somehow involved with the blue diamonds.

2 things:

1) McAdam's dad has got to figure in this more prominently. Anyone notice during the intro that it looks like his silhouette that is shown looking to be in prayer? Also, he is tied to all these guys from way back.

2) Anyone think it was VV who shot KF's character with the shotgun? Shooter was tall (and masked). Not sure what he had to gain by doing so, unless he figured the tapes were there after the sent KF. Meh, kinda shaky, just a thought.

I think the bird mask man might be Blake or the other tall skinny Vinci detective that evicted Cf last night.

That house they found in northern California toward the end...where the chair and cloud stains were...anyone think that is where Casper was killed?

That was my thought. It was where Casper was killed, and was also where the missing girl called from.

No, Frank was not the shooter. He's as clueless in this as anybody.

Pretty good guesses. I'll toss in Chessani's son too.
