Pretty sure it is canon that sidius killed him the night he was elected galatians emporer. That being sad, he did study the force in deeper depth than anyone else in history. He discovered ways to sustain life, so it's possible he discovered a way to come back to life, or take over someone's body through the force (maybe this is the Awakening?).

The Darth Plagueis novel is no longer canon, so the specifics of how he died are still up in the air. That said, I've seen concept art of Snoke, and he doesn't look like Plagueis was described in the novel. I wouldn't be shocked if certain aspects of the novel are retconned as time goes on, but I wouldn't expect them to blow its canonicity out of the water, establishing Plagueis as a completely different species.
That doesn't mean Plagueis can't be influencing Snoke or Kylo Ren in spirit form.

It's not too big of a list. Only things that are canon released before April 2015 are the six films, "The Clone Wars" CGI cartoon, and "Rebels" CGI cartoon. "Rebels" is still being made, and the multimedia push (novels, comics, and games) since April are what is canon.

Him or Hux. I think Kylo is just a hunter sent to eliminate Finn, while Hux and Snoke are the true powers. I think Hux will be like the Tarkin in this and hold Kylo's leash, and he dies at the end of film. Kylo will be much more intimidating in Episode VIII like Vader was in Empire due to having basically no person over him.
