Other than the Exorcist I would have to say The Ring. It was the first movie I saw with that Japanese style stutter type walking and it fricked with me.

Based on shite that is actually real, Jaws without a doubt. Like others have said I still think about it when I go in the ocean to this day.

Scariest scene I've ever seen that gave me nightmares was the hospital scene in Exorcist 3. Anybody that has seen this movie knows what I'm talking about. It involves a possessed corpse and amputation shears. frick that scene and I was in college when I saw it.

This kicked off the Gore Porn craze that was more shocking that scary. I like the more psychological horror that fricks with your head.

Jaws wins that for me because it was closer to reality than most others

It's always going to be The Exorcist for me.

Although , The Town That Dreaded Sundown kind of hit home because of it's location and the fact that I spent a lot of time making out with girls in parked cars.

There are two categories for this thread.

movies that scared the shite out of you as kid.

movies that disturb you as an adult.

Cabin Fever is one that falls in the latter for me. While not frightening in itself, something about deasly diseases in film disturbs the hell out of me.

Blair Witch Project scared the frick outta me when I was younger.
Other than that, I really don't remember being scared by a movie. I mostly just criticize the actions of the dumbass characters.

I am not a good person to watch scary movies with.

ETA: Wizard of Oz when I was a kid. That movie traumatized me.
