Reading the book right now, I'm not a bug reader and I can't put the book down. As sad as this sounds, this will be the first movie I watch just after finishing the book since Friday night lights

I can't take that movie seriously when Matt Damon is stranded on a planet looks into the camera and says "I gotta science the hell out of this"

yeah, some of those lines were cringeworthy

Of all ways to describe this movie, "boring" comes to your mind?

I honestly didn't think it looked too good from the trailers.

Ridley Scott is so hit or miss. . . But his hits are very, very solid.

Did anyone else think this was an Interstellar prequel at first?

Soooo lame

You have to think of the dialogue like this. It's like Castaway, a guy trapped somewhere and he thinks he has a better chance of dying than making it home but he keeps fighting anyway. He has no people to interact with and is a sarcastic smart-arse. The dialogue in the book was great. You can't imagine a scientist to keep his composure when he is looking at years for a rescue.

Actually, Andy Weir did not come up with that line originally... it was written as part of the screen play written by Drew Goddard. If it is in the latest print of the book, it was added after the screen play was written.

Andy talking about the line

That said.. the book is a fun read. Going to see the movie Friday at noon.

People keep saying this. No, it isn't. It's nowhere in the book.

The preview looks interesting, and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, but the same was true of Gravity. I was eager to see Garvity but hated it.

I hope Damon is better than Clooney and Bullock.

Just got back from an early screening.

I can't recommend this movie enough.

I knew nothing about it going in other than Damon and Space. It surprised me with its light hearted tone and sense of humor. It was the most enjoyable movie I've seen all year.

The 3D was unnecessary, but it was a really good film.

Were you on the side of the theater with us near the jerk that made noise throughout the movie?

I don't think so. I was on the second row, right in the middle. The 3D actually worked for me being so close. It was like I was in the damn movie.
