I watched Episode 2 last night. Good TV. They nailed the scene with Ubba and the East Anglian king. Even with changes from the book as everything in a book won't fit in a TV show, I also feel that they are doing Uhtred and Alfred very well in the show

After three episodes I am hooked on the show but it's very confusing. Didn't understand at all the mushroom dreams and Brita leaving with the other dude.

Just watched pilot and it was fricking awesome. Everything Vikings should have been. I watched the first episode on BBC.com, I guess I'll pay for second two episodes on amazon.

This is the best show on TV right now IMO.
Its game of thrones without the lame arse dragons. Hope they take the time to develop Alfraed, hes an amazing character in the books.

Alfred is spot on. Just perfect casting. Leofric is supposed to be short and muscular but whatever.
The actor for Uhtred is doing a good job but I'm still getting used to his looks since the books describe Uhtred as taller and bigger than most men, and fair haired.
But yeah, I'm very happy with this show. It's replaced Vikings as my favorite.

Apparently when she trips she has visions of the future.
She is hard core Dane and doesn't want to be Saxon. So she's anxious to join Ragnar, who is the son of the Ragnar that raised her and Uhtred. Uhtred loves the son too but decides to stay in Wessex and honor his oath to Alfred. So she leaves Uhtred.

Agreed...the Ubba actor fits well too.
Very impressed with all three episodes.

I'd heard that his books were good just never got around to reading them. Looks like it's time to buy them on Amazon. Pretty pricey ranging from .01 to .52.

They'll break the bank but totally worth it. The Last Kingdom show is based on a book series that's still ongoing. I think book 8 releases in January. They're incredibly good reads, if you enjoy gritty violent medieval action.
Cornwell has some stand-alone books on the Hundred Years War: 1356 and Agincourt. They were good.
His 3-part Arthur series is beautifully done. He does a brilliant job of blending the various characters into a realistic medieval setting but with a light touch of ambiguous supernatural.

The whole reason the two of them fled was because they thought nobody would believe they didn't kill the father. The son came to tell them he believed them and they could return with him. Brita was ready to leave... but a promise was made to the King so she left alone.
* can you tell I have no idea how to spell anybody's names on this thing?

I would like to thank everyone in this thread for recommending the series. Talked the wife into watching it with me and we are hooked!
Very well done program and look forward to reading it now.
"hump" is the new word I need to use more often! It worked for Utred.

Tried the website and couldn't locate it, probably overlooked it. All caught up now though, really liking it so far
