I think this series could have a lot of intentional connections and Easter eggs.

It doesn't take much to figure this out.

Loving it. I grew up in the 90s, born late eighties but my youth was dominated by 80s pop culture until probably the mid 90s.

Hence one reason I loved Donnie Darko in '01. Any movie that does a good job as a time piece and makes you feel like you are back there are my favorites.

Yeah there's a lot of obvious homage.

But I'd like to hear what they included overall from their love of 80's films.

Obviously King was huge...but there's more...

Reminds me more of F.E.A.R.

I love this game series except 3, but most here won't understand!!!

I finished it today and it was very good, not as good IMO as some are claiming, but good enough that I am wanting to see season 2.

But they talked about Stephen King...

Firestarter would be the big King influence I see, though the kids are done very well in a King style as well (also Goonies). Music was straight out of John Carpenter.

We are at the half-way mark. I'm really just loving the atmosphere created.

Edt: Also, the way worlds overlap... Devil May Cry? while Eleven = Emma = F.E.A.R.? music like John Carpenter/Wolf Among Us?

I think I'm going to watch this again on a rainy day. The tone was absolutely perfect. The music, the mystery, the atmosphere, it was all so beautiful.

Fastest I've ever watched a Netflix show.
Of course I had a free weekend which is rare.
Very well done show.
Loved it.

Started watching episode 1 around 1 am last night and proceeded to watch the first five without pause. This show is great, very entertaining. I am very impressed with what Netflix is doing with the medium.

Not perfect. If you binge watch it the music gets annoying, and the pacing is off and on

I love it though. What really solidifies the quality is the performance of the kids. Kids are usually such terrible actors but then there are movies like super 8 that remind you that in the 80s, kids could act

It's strangely addicting because only episodes 6 and 7 leave you with that "oh shite, i can't leave I there" ending

It's quality addiction.

I cannot wait for season 2. This was easily one of the best single seasons that Netflix has put out.

Yeah, it's hard to stop praising it, but it's short of perfect, as everything is...It's weird because they approach that line between paying homage and ripping off, and it succeeds at every turn

If you know anything about geek shite though (and I'm more into mainstream geek shite) the shadow world/the upside down concept was understood even before barb was taken but that's the scene that made it unequivocally understood

I taught about Link Between Worlds but made the Devil May Cry comparison because the visuals at less are the same.

I thought the girl who played Eleven did a fantastic job. She was sympathetic in every way and the ultimate bad arse when needed.

**SPOILER ALERT**...

I love that the last scene implied that Eleven may be back for Season 2, or at least wasn't killed at the end. The Sheriff putting the eggo waffle in the bin seemed to make that clear.

Seems like everyone is liking it so far. It looks like Super 8 The Series from the trailer.
