Needs to be watched on big screen with a good sound system. That score is so dark and really sucks you

Haha, you are correct. I honestly thought it had been, not a regular Oscar watcher myself, still I should have double checked before posting. My bad.

bumping this because i just saw this on second viewing on Amazon prime.
I missed so much that i never caught. I hated Emily Blunts character the first time but really came around this time
What a masterpiece. Del Toro is the shite.
How about the music? The score is top notch. Gave me chills

Made me realize Benicio del toro is one of the best actors out there. The direction and cinematography in combination with the score was on a transcendant level of good. Emily Blunt effctively played a characer that the audience was supposed to relate to primarily in the story and she did an outstanding job- it was a polar opposite character from her role in Edge of Tomorrow.

So was del toro the real Sicario?
What was his role?

Yes, he was the sicario. They show a definition of the word at the very beginning.

Can't wait for the second one. It sounds like it will center around Benicio's character.
The movie is damn good. Benicio and Blunt did really well. Pretty intense moments throughout...

I enjoyed it but it was incredibly unrealistic:
- CIA needs a domestic law enforcement officer to operate within American borders? Not true.
- Cliche Delta Force operators who are all huge, beards, multicam, and Kafiyahs (lol).
- Transport prisoner from Mexican prison back to the US to waterboard him to gain information? Doesn't make any sense.
- CIA wants to unify the cartels under one "super-cartel" in order to better control them? Interesting plot device.
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie but rolled my eyes at a lot of it. Just like with Hurt Locker - they could really use better military advisors.

Good movie and a great performance from Del Toro.

What? It was to operate outside American borders.... such as Mexico....

Or so the cartel wouldn't kill him once they found out he was contacted by the US
Either you didn't pay attention or you didn't apply common sense

and no, they wanted to eliminate one of the cartels. It was too hard trying to control both. They in no way whatsoever wanted to unify the Colombian and Mexican cartels
Posted on 3/26/17 at 1:23 am to jg8623
Yes - they wanted to consolidate all the power with the Columbian cartel so they could more easily control it

The shot tracking the SUV'a crossing the border is amazing. Rewound that scebe like 3 times when I first saw it.

Yes - they wanted to consolidate all the power with the Columbian cartel so they could more easily control it
And notice how the endgame is to get it to "a measure of order which we could control" as they've all but conceded that they'll never be able to get drugs off the streets unless the root problem(addiction) is taken care of.

so in short, the US hired Del Toro, who was a Columbian Sicario, to help us track down and kill the Mexican boss because Del Toro had a personal reason to do it?
do i have that right?
To the guy above, yes the scene where the cross and go into Juarez is my favorite of the movie. Im in the process of doing a home theater room with projector and i thought of that scene with the chopper and that amazing music as it comes over the mountain. That will be the first movie i watch!

That's funny. It would be even funnier if I knew what movie that is from and had done it intentionally.

Awesome movie. Plot was a little like clear and present danger with trying to work the drug overlords into 1 group
