I would disagree

And that is your opinion.

However, the only valid opinion comes from the people writing the show and they felt it was garbage too because it went from a major Peter specific plot to ........ don't know they never mentioned it again.

Feel free to join in the rewatch party with the rest of us.

All the way back 2008 indeed. Fringe from back then won't bite, I swear! Well, Gene might, but only Gene

I'm enjoying the rewatch but this thread is a mess. So whatever happened with this new agent trying to tie Fringe events to the Bible? I remember thinking at the time they were taking the story in a new direction and then it just stopped. Was this an experiment they didn't like and killed, or did I just forget how that all resolved?

OP updated with new episodes/dates.

How so? We've been keeping the same pattern (pun intended) since the beginning of the rewatch. It may not be moving fast with tons of discussion, but it's certainly pretty organized.

As for this week's discussion, so this is finally when Charlie dies....I've been wondering when that was coming, and I knew it had something to do with the clones. I'm interested to see how well I follow that shite this time around (as I still don't remember exactly how Charlie's story ends). We also get a solid dose of the alternate universe stuff since Olivia was over there before she crashed in the regular timeline.

We get another sort of monster of the week with episode 2 with that dude and his (literal) monster son.

Same with episode 3 with the serum that hardens people and makes them explode. Is that crazy colonel tied to RDJ at all?

I remember the side story with Liv and Sam Weiss and I remember liking that the first time around.

I remember the clones being a pretty big deal to things, but don't remember how that all wraps up either.

I found myself completely hooked on these season two episodes, so I'm hoping that's a good sign of the show getting better..I loved the first season, but feel like the show hit its stride much better once the overall plots started taking affect (like DRJ, the alternate universe, clones, etc.).

Do the clones tie into DRJ at all? I know he's hopping back and forth between universes, but don't remember if the clones were tied to him or his activity at all.

Also, at least two more times during this batch of episodes, we got the "Peter has a guy" angle. That really is sort of annoying and seems pretty deus ex machina. But even though it's annoying sometimes, it doesn't bother me too much since I love the show so much.

I'm not sure I remember much about this new agent chick. But IIRC, doesn't she disappear just as fast as she appeared on the show? Looking at a little writeup of her, it looks like she's only in 2 total episodes (out of the 100).

Also, doesn't the whole "everybody keeps trying to get Fringe division shut down" thing sort of dissipate pretty quickly as well?

yeah the alternate universe stuff was great. I'm excited for how that will unfold this season

this plays a large role in this show even though it doesn't come up that much.

I've always thought the shape shifters were from the other side. Maybe connected to William Bell in some way.

I'm two episodes behind tough weekend for me very busy and couldn't get the shows in.

The new agent plot fizzled almost as quickly as the Mob guys. Glad in both instances.

I can't remember if we get answers if the future but it bugs me a bit about the way Olivia returned and temporary amnesia always bugs me.

Episode 201 was good but I had some slight issues with the shapeshifters. They made them entirely overpowered. Able to take 3 shots to the back. Able to jump down 4 stories. With those skills it is plausible that a small number would be able to totally wipe out and control top positions in the government. They would be unstoppable.

My main beef with Not Charlie was that the shifter killed the nurse, just happened to bring the nurse all the way down to the boiler room, then just waited for Charlie to show up in the boiler room.

Also since Peter shot the shifter, it was pretty sloppy work that they didn't match the bullets from his gun and the dead nurses wounds. Also why didn't they inquire as to the whereabouts of the missing nurse.

Given that they know shifters exist, they really haven't done much yet to track or test people.

Also, not sure why the orders to kill Olivia were changed. Should be insanely easy for Not Charlie to kill her.

The 2 monster of the week episodes were OK but nothing spectacular. 202 could just have easily been an episode of X-Files. Would feel right at home there.

Yes, Cokes, I think 203 does tie into the central plot since the Colonel clearly was trying to stop the Observers. Maybe not tied in with Jones but he was trying to stop the observers.

Not sure why he thought it necessary to use exploding humans to target the couriers. That didn't exactly make ANY sense.

Yeah that was a little overboard IMO. The fact that they can shapeshift already makes them superhuman. But then they are basically given superhero powers.

That whole sequence was sort of weird and a little out of place.

I thought about this while watching...I was like well if you know that shapeshifters exist, shouldn't you be a little less trusting that everybody you're in contact with is the real them? Like during a specific scene I was thinking why didn't Olivia and the Fringe team protect against that...could be something as simple as a secret word that lets each other know that you're the real you.

I believe they're waiting for fake Charlie to get info from Liv to see what she found out in the alternate universe (from Bell maybe?).

We're all at different places it seems so it's hard to get a coherent discussion going. It's not your fault at all, but getting us all on the same page is like herding cats.

The rules were 3 a week. Anyone that didn't stick to that should be tar and feathered.

The thread is coherent and operating fine under the established rules. Not the OPs fault that people aren't adhering the the schedule.

Exactly. The rules/pace of the thread are very clear...people just are ignoring them and hauling arse through the series.

Which is fine, I just think that the discussions are suffering because of that. It's not easy to discuss three episodes in season one when you're almost done with season four and have watched 4/5 of the series in the last few weeks. That's my only gripe...people can watch at their own pace, no problem; I just wish they would contribute. Maybe half of the people listed in the OP who said they'd be in for this have participated more than just once or twice. If everyone (or even most) would participate, we could get into some great discussions. And don't get me wrong, I think we're doing fine, but it'd be nice if more people joined in. And I do think that more will join in, and the discussion will gain momentum in general, the further along we go.

Also, it seems like we may have lost our first-timers. Not sure why...we haven't really gotten into too many spoilers really (at least not into details). Maybe they just can't keep up with the pace or something. Who knows..? But it'd be cool to get a rookie perspective on a lot of what is happening.

And I'm not trying to imply that. Cocomo's doing a great job keeping the thread updated, but so far talking about how bad/out of place the John Scott plot line seems to be the best discussion we've had. I think it being a rewatch is part of the problem too. I'm with cocomo on remembering the shape shifters were a big deal but not remembering how it resolved or even who was behind them. But that's about all I have to say about them. Were this an initial watch the discussion would be "holy shite, shape shifters!" and all kinds of crazy conspiracy theories behind them.

I'm not trying to drag down the thread, just trying to point something out that I've noticed in case anyone has any bright ideas to improve it.
