No this movie certainly didn't handle Thing's character right, but as far as looks goes, I liked him. I liked Torch a lot too, the sound of the fire was a nice touch.

Monday estimates have it at $2.2m.

If regular weekday patterns hold it's going to make about $8-$10m for Monday through Thursday.

I was in my car voice-posting in this thread

When Johnny morphs into the Torch (flame on) in this movie,I honestly think it looked shitty. I'd rather then do a mo-cap CGI like Hulk then whatever the hell they did in this film or the earlier films.

Or even, the look of Johnny Storm in the Annihilus storyline :

More fuel for the fire:

Fantastic Four' Blame Game: Fox, Director Josh Trank Square Off Over On-Set "Chaos"

quote:

In Trank's case, multiple sources associated with the project say the director did not produce material that would have opened the way to a salvageable film. And by several accounts, he resisted help. "He holed up in a tent and cut himself off from everybody," says one high-level source. Literally, there was a tent on the Louisiana set. "He built a black tent around his monitor," says a crewmember. "He was extremely withdrawn." Between setups, this person adds, "he would go to his trailer and he wouldn't interact with anybody."

Sources say Fox believed in what one executive calls a "grounded, gritty version of Fantastic Four that was almost the opposite of previous versions" — and initially thought Trank could deliver that. Several sources say Fox stood by Trank as he pushed a gloomy tone on young stars Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell. "During takes, he would be telling [castmembers] when to blink and when to breathe," one person says. "He kept pushing them to make the performance as flat as possible."

There were worrying personal issues as well. As THR reported in May, Trank and his dogs allegedly caused more than $100,000 worth of damage to a rented house in Baton Rouge that he and his wife occupied while the film was shooting there. Sources say now that after landlord Martin Padial moved to evict Trank, photographs of the landlord's family that were in the house were defaced. Padial made a complaint to the local sheriff's department and filed a civil suit in Louisiana that is sealed. Padial's attorney, Michael Bienvenu, declined to comment on the matter. The sheriff's department says the case was "closed as a civil matter between landlord and tenant."

The first act(which is most of the movie) isn't any better than the rest of the film, the whole premise of getting Reed there was terrible.

This movie was all over the map.Other than Reed and Johnny, he had no idea what he wanted from the rest of the characters.

saw it last night. It wasn't rally that bad until they went back and found Doom, then it feels like it's over in ten minutes. The last few scenes are so fast.

Miles Teller and Josh Trank almost came to blows on set

It has become well know at this point that Miles Teller and Josh Trank did not get along. The director is said to have been quite withdrawn from everybody during shooting, and was also prone to hiding. At one point, he even covered himself with a blanket so he could watch his monitor alone while scenes were taking place. Miles Teller, on the other hand, has a reputation for being loud and sarcastic, and sometimes not very easy to get along with. This made for a combustable, bad combination. It's said that things got so bad at one point, a disagreement between the two brought them chest-to-chest. They stood, daring one another to throw the first punch. Neither of them could bring themselves to start an actual fist fight though. But the tension created in that moment carried itself through the rest of the shoot.

It has been widely reported that Josh Trank did not like his leading lady Kate Mara one bit. He didn't want her in the movie, and when Fox cast her anyway, he became quite cold to her on set. Some have even described his behavior as abusive.

on the box office front

w/$1.4m on Thursday F4 finished at $8.275m for M-Th making the domestic total $33.96m going into the weekend.

W/how bad the reviews have been, I'm going to guess that the drop off for weekend two will be greater than the normal 50-55%.

Weekend Predictions
BoxOfficeMojo - $11m
The Numbers - $10m
little ole me - $9m

So it look like F4 will have one of the highest second weekend drops ever for a comic book movie.

Friday estimates are in and the film is thought to have made only $2.4m which puts it on pace to make just under $8m for the weekend.
