Yall know this is just another bait and switch Marvel movie where Jane will be the "noble and wise" one and Thor will just be and idiot wandering the galaxy, right?
I think it’s pretty obvious Portman is going to be an important factor in the movie. They don’t seem to be hiding that.

Thor hasn’t been the smartest Avenger either. So I’m actually not seeing your description as much different.

It’s not much of a “bait and switch” anymore . I’d say even if you’re right, it would not come as a surprise at all.

Pretty sure where they are headed is having her and possibly Valkyrie replace the parts that old and young Thor were supposed to play.

Which is obviously a different story and changes some of the deeper meaning about life that would make more sense with the ages of Thor. It's just going to be a different story with superficial similarities.

So, admittedly I don’t really care much for Thor. And I love Natalie Portman.

So I may be bias in this, but I love this idea.

And to the big Thor fans, I get it. But the dude had a trilogy and was part of a ton of crossover movies. He had a longer run than any Batman. So maybe just give this a shot.

Aren't you the same guy that commented Marvel so badly needs RDJ back? Why Ironman but not Thor?

They just established a likable Thor in the last couple movies

I still think it’s pretty amazing they’ve gotten Thor to four movies. I have no problem with Portman becoming an important character, but it’s gonna be annoying when she’s better at being Thor than Thor is. Bale looks great, and looks like a pretty serious villain for the rom-com they’re going with.

That looked fricking awesome.

This one is going to kill it and they’re gonna throw $50Mil at Hemsworth and Waititi to keep coming back for 5&6

RDJ. Not Iron Man.

It wouldn’t matter who they replaced Iron Man with, he would never live up.

So, what if Hemsworth is done? Trying to find someone the fill those shoes would not be easy. The other option is to try something a little different. How many Batman’s did they have to go through before they found someone to live up to Keaton? And this is Marvel. They can’t just reboot.

If Portman Thor doesn’t work, they’ll probably just scrap the character all together. And this is assuming Hemsworth is finished. If not, I’m not seeing them kick him to the curb.

The movie is still like a month and a half from being released, how the hell do you know if the story needs her or not

Agreed. He has a developed character people like (warts and all). Marvel keep trying to jam in new characters faster than they can develop them - which is a really big problem if you want your audience to identify with the actual story progression.

Who remains in the Marvel universe who has a consistent and likable character? There's Spider-Man and then who? Minus Hemsworth I don't see anyone to build around.

I really like both Strange and Scarlet Witch in the comics but neither one is consistent or likable after DS2. Wanda has been morphed into a murderous sociopath and Strange has gone from brilliant and competent to an inconsistent character who does dumb things that risk the multiverse.

The preview showed the Gor the God Killer story. Which was probably the last worthwhile story in Marvel comics

No shite. And Taika Waititi has more than earned the benefit of the doubt. Both trailers look great. I know we’ve been overly sold on crap like this with girl power, but you can definitely do it right. Yeah Captain Marvel and She Hulk have/will be shite, but I don’t see the reason to panic when Taika is in charge especially with the great trailers.

Yeah, Thor pretty consistently has a 90 IQ throughout the MCU, which Loki frequently uses to his advantage. Jane is already almost certainly more intelligent than Thor, so I don’t see the point being made here.

Yeah, and it’s a frick up they didn’t make Thor likable and funny from the start. The first one they get a bit of a pass since they didn’t know from the start that Chris Hemsworth is actually funny, but they had to have learned that on the set of the original Thor and Avengers. This for instance was improvised by Hemsworth and one of the first scenes shot for the original Thor:

So Thor: The Dark World is unforgivable in this and largely agreed upon to be the worst MCU movie (although Iron Man 3 is up there). But you’re merely pointing out good developments for Thor.
