So. Luke dies.
The title isn't going to reveal what happens in the movie really.
Luke is technically the last Jedi...at the moment. When the movie starts. Leia is force sensitive, but isn't a Jedi per say.

Nice to know you've already seen the movie. Prick.

The red Star Wars is interesting
No doubt there's a hidden message in there

That's definitely interesting and intentional
I see the red text title as a throwback to Return of the Jedi, which is of course, very Luke-centric. We see a fully-trained Luke in that movie, using his powers at a high level.
I think this could mean one of two things... either we see Luke boldly grasping the the title and responsibility of Jedi, and doing amazing things here... OR...
This does not refer to "Jedi" in the singular, but the plural. I think "the last Jedi" are Luke and Rey together. Or, possibly, someone we haven't even met yet.
Luke is in "retirement," Rey is untrained... maybe the last Jedi is Rey's mom or something... and the object of the movie is to find her.

You know why.

If Luke dies I might cry in the theater.

Weird seeing the Star Wars logo in red instead of yellow, probably to show how dark the sequel will be. I could see this being the Empire strikes back of Star Wars ... wait a second.

The last Jedi does not mean the last force user, or the last good force user. The Jedi needed to go.
That's kind of what I was thinking. The ways of the Old Republic Jedi are dead. Time for good force users to build a new regime.

If Luke dies then the last movie will be all of the new characters unless we get ghost Luke. Not saying that's good or bad. Just pointing it out

I just hope we get some originality, that's all I ask for.

Fact is, 90% of the heroic IMPLICATIONS of the first trilogy have been, or are being, erased.

I literally have not gathered that at all.
I think it's completely ridiculous to jump the gun on a movie that doesn't even have a trailer yet. You don't even know if "The last Jedi" is even referring to Luke.

Jedi can be plural, I believe it's referring to both Luke and Rey.

it should be Jedi, The Last of

Yeah I was just going to make the point that the plural of Jedi is Jedi.
But anyway, Rian Johnson has already come out and said that while in many ways its a spiritual cousin to Empire in some ways, it isn't the same move and the tone, etc will be utterly, completely different (closer to tFA in terms of tone and feel).

My biggest question is: Carbon Ridge.
What were the imperials doing on Jakku that was so secret, they would crash valuable capital ships into it to keep it out of the New Republics hands?
I hope they answer that in this movie.

Let me break this down.
1. The First Order are the remnants of the Empire that were sent out by Palpatine to the Unknown Regions and later returned after the Empire fell being led by a mysterious Snoke who is in pursuit of his own power.
2. Given the above would have happened anyway, it can be properly assumed Snoke would have warred with the Empire upon their return. Meaning the Old Empire was coming to an end with or without the aid of Luke and company.
3. So, the best course of action would have been for Kenobi to train Luke and stay alive waiting for the right moment to train the younger Jedi properly as they awaited the true enemy. Instead what we have is a bunch of heroes fighting for something that was inconsequential (and ultimately depressing).
CONCLUSION: The real heroic story of the original trilogy boils down to an unknown tale of some Jedi slaying the right poon at the right time so Rey could exist.
