I have watched all the major series over the past 25 years. IF you rank them by cast, story, acting, setting and writing, it is not even close

The series explored so many angles of a story and made you use your imagination. It also gave you a front story but was about so much more. Series about characters are always the best.

I understand it is not for everybody and that the story itself did not lay everything out on a silver platter but the story and ending was brilliantly written even though so many were confused by it.

I love lost, but no it's not. The first 3 years the writers spent their time writing themselves into a corner because they had no idea how long the show would last. Not completely their fault.

The final three they spent their time trying to write themselves out of all the problems they had caused. Overall I think they did a good job considering the fact they had no idea when the show was ending, but it is not the best written show ever.

No shite, because it was a goddamn mess.

It's why Hollywood pays good story-tellers real money - to tell coherent stories with coherent story arcs and believable actions of characters.

Anybody can go "Days of Our Lives" on us - and LOST did that in spades.

I honestly thought the last episode would be "and then I woke up!" high school paper ending (and it kinda was the ending of LOST - it was all a dream!

Lost is the laziest writing of any modern popular show because nothing had to be thought out - they could just make up whatever shite as time went on and never explain anything.

Nothing EVER had to really reconnect to previous premises.

Breaking Bad needed to have a structure, shite needed to be explained...The Wire, etc.

You couldn't just write some Gilligan Island with the Young and the Restless meets the Phantom bullshite.

Certainly see that point but I still disagree with you. Every series has those kind of moments. I think the off rail part of the series made it what it is. There are so many different story lines, its impossible for the writers to tidy them all up.

That story covered a lot of ground and only added to the mystery and appeal of the show.

I believe a lot of people would disagree with this point. The story was very coherent. It may have been fictional but that is pretty much every story told

I loved LOST but disagree, the last few seasons were way too sloppy to be a GOAT example of writing.

I'm the biggest LOST fan on this site, and this is ridiculous. There are much better written shows than LOST. Is it one of the smartest and most ambitious, yes? Best written? There really weren't any scenes I can remember that I thought were spectacularly written.

Why LOST is great is for its scope, characters, and constantly throwing curve balls that change the formula. It was one of the first shows that said "pay attention or get the frick out". It's great, but it's not spectacularly written.

Yes, that is a weakness. I really wish ABC took Damon and Carlton's advice and green light 5 seasons from the start, and it would have been better. Watch Avatar where Nick gave them their 3 seasons from the start without them going on, and you realize how this can be beneficial. Also House of Cards should have done this as well, because that show is an abortion.

It's the most fun I ever had watching a series as it unfolded live, not binging, and that experience will never be topped.

Binging Lost is just not the same experience as it was waiting for everything to unfold.

I was 100% invested in the mystery of the island and the Lost watch parties we would have were fun as hell.

Even though I didn't really love the ending, the ride there will never be topped IMO.

I loved Lost as well, and I agree with this

Your opinion is wrong and you should feel bad.

I get the feeling that you didn't understand the ending.

Someone should start a thread listing all the Lost storylines that end up going nowhere.

Anyone that says this about the ending can have their opinion completely disregarded on the show. It's comical at this point.
