That's not my argument. In fact, if I were them, I would have actually answered less questions because leaving a lot of mystery and discussion potential is preferable and more enjoyable. I don't have a specific way I wanted everything to be resolved. I would have been hapy with many other resolutions. My complaint is that the show began with a totally different vibe than how it ended. Of course, there were fantastical elements, but we were always given to believe that they had potentially somewhat reasonable concrete explanations outside of the realm of magic, even if those explanations were far-fetched, or even, as I've already said, left up to the viewers. What happened is (and I don't think this is even debatable from a literary perspective) they found themselves way, way up shite creek in terms of being able to draw the many divergent tangets together using the various pseudoscientific avenues they had explored. Instead of locking themselves in a room for a week with maybe some additional hired writing guns and coming up with a smart way to end it, they basically just said "frick it" and did exactly what the Greeks did when their plays were written into a corner: they lowered a "god" on a pulley over the stage, had him wave a magic wand, and poof! untangled the plot knot by just doing an end-around on it. Which deservedly is viewed as a cheap way out.

LOST is great, Fringe is better if you like character shows that have a sci-fi twist.

Lost is a night beer, tequila, and schnapps in various order. Sure it's a lot of fun when it's going on (maybe not), and there are some....memories, but there's usually some regret, some blackouts or missing moments. You probably puked and rallyed somewhere in there. The pictures from the night are good too, if not a little embarrassing sometimes, but it's nothing you want to repeat.

Fringe is like a few smooth, bourbon doubles. Yeah you get a little tipsy, but not that much. You remember everything. They taste much better, much more complex, and there's no regret. It was just a great night.

Wait, weren't they all dead in the end?

Not really a lot of deep thought went into that?

So no

I only saw one episode and it was about time travel. It was terrible.

They all eventually died, but they didn't die in the crash.

I thought they all died in the crash and the island was a form of purgatory? It's been years since I watched though.

Everything that happened on the show happened. Season 6's alternate reality is all the characters meeting up in purgatory after they had died during the show, or in the case of people like Kate, years later after the scope of the show.

They did not all die in the crash and the island was not purgatory.

I would, and enjoy I'm gonna wait a few years until the kids are older to watch with them, plus it'll seem pretty fresh by then too.

Lost is really a story about characters more than anything else. How everyone is the way they are for a reason. The casting was fantastic and they did a great job of getting you attached to each character on a personal level. When it comes to a story arc and making the viewer feel compelled to watch the next episode, it doesn't get any better than Lost. At the very least it's a must see for any TV buff.

Love Lost but no fricking way just to name
a few better:

Game of Thrones
Breaking Bad
Fargo
The Wire
Sopranos

I've seen all of these except Fargo and liked them all, but the only one that comes close to Lost is Breaking Bad.

1. Lost
2. Breaking Bad
3. Game of Thrones
4. The Wire
5. Sopranos

I dont think so. I never thought that and never really read any explanation where that was the case

I believe everything on the island happened and they all passed in their own times.

This is exactly where I would place them as well. Game of Thrones could be #2 on my list but I need to see how it goes from here. I may put Sopranos over The Wire but that is really just a fine detail.

If that is the case, you know nothing about the story at all.

No, it was exactly what fans had speculated for years while the creators denied it.

Well since the fans speculated they were in purgatory on the island and that was not the case, it seems you are mistaken

And what part of the finale suggests they weren't in purgatory the whole time?
