Anyone other than myself excited to see this Christmas horror flick?

If you're smart you'll see it Saturday, December 5th, otherwise known as Krampusnacht, or rather Krampus Night.

Krampusnacht is celebrated on December 5th because December 6th is St. Nicholas Day...and Krampus is the anti-St. Nick.

I still can't figure out what it is.

Horror?
Comedy?
Spoof?

Based on Michael Dougherty's track record it will be a little of both I suppose. It will have its funny moments but will fully intend to scare you. Kinda in the same vein of Raimi horror, like Evil Dead or Drag Me to Hell.

Just my opinion.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. It might be like the leprechaun series. A mixer of comedy and horror.

Wonder how it will stand up to the other Christmas horror movie classics.

Christmas Evil is nuts.

I'm looking forward to Krampus. A little disappointed they went for the PG-13 rating

1974's Black Christmas is really a classic in the slasher genre. Inspired Carpenter's Halloween. Has a pre-Superman Margot Kidder in it. And Bob Clark, who directed Christmas Story and Porky's, directed it. So he's responsible for two Christmas classics.

Really excited about it. It's PG:13? Stupid. A little concerned with no reviews out.

Did I see Adam Scott in the trailer? I can't tell if I should take it seriously as a horror film or if it's a stupid slap stick movie. Either way Adam Scott is awesome.

Dougherty on the PG-13 rating:

quote:

There may be some speculation about the secrets of the film, but one thing’s for sure — Krampus is definitely family friendly. “It’s meant to be, I think, a family holiday horror movie, but I don’t think parents should go in blind, thinking that it’s going to be kid safe like a Pixar movie, but it is definitely taking a page from really dark fairy tales, like the original Brothers Grimm style of storytelling. Bad things do happen to children”.

Interview with director Michael Dougherty

It looks prett terrible IMO. Like, cringeworthy.

Maybe that's the point.

Which is the only reason why any of us want to see it. There's no expectations other than a fun experience. This is the kind of movie you laugh at, and the directors know that. It's purposefully made to encourage ridicule and the directors are in on the joke.

I guaran-damn-tee you it will be fun.

Honestly.

Reminds me of another one of my favorite movies, (don't give a frick if it outs my bad taste) The Mummy with Brendan Fraiser. Action/horror/comedy spin on a "classic" monster.

The lack of reviews scares the hell out of me.
