Regardless of your political leanings, this is a must-watch. John's most recent episode deals with something that has probably affected everyone at some point in their lives, whether directly or indirectly, and that something is multi-level marketing companies. You may have been involved in one, or possibly been harrassed by their cult-like followers. Man, the people who shill for these companies make my skin crawl....

I don't understand how people can fall for these things... but then I don't understand how someone can fall for a Nigerian money-wiring scam either.

I was enticed by a guy when I was a junior in college. Seemed enticing until I looked into it and realized I'd be alienating all of my friends, family, and associates by having them go down this hell hole with me. Their pitches tend to be pretty good.

Yeah, I don't get it either. The sales pitches sound enticing, but as soon as you get a moment of clarity and do the math, it's just ludicrous.
I knew a guy back in college who got roped into MLM. Truth be told, if anyone could've "made it", it would've been him. He busted his arse for almost a year, and probably got "paid" a total of $500...of course, that doesn't include the thousands of dollars he actually lost by paying into the company every month. Not to mention, all his friends & I had to start avoiding him, 'cuz he was in constant sales pitch mode. By the time I'd graduated & moved away, he was in a deep depression....

They usually get those individuals who are depressed or hate their jobs.

I had a college friend try to get me into one of these as well... after looking into it, yeah, total pyramid scheme. No thanks.

Right! Who doesn't want to be a millionaire and entrepreneur? It's this attitude that keeps people from double diamond top tier ruby sapphire level.

We had a buddy in Nashville who's mom invited us all over for a BBQ and drinks and surprised us with a Rodan + Fields presentation. Damn thing took like 1.5 hours and had a video offering a Lexus if you sell enough face cream and shite.
He was pretty embarrassed, I don't think he expected it to be like that. I sat in the back chugging beer picking up players on my fantasy waiver wire.

I know all kind of chicks, unfortunately, who fall for that Advocare shite. And had one friend that got into Zija. It's pretty ridiculous that people think you can't just lose weight eating a healthy, balanced diet with regular exercise.

I worked with a guy whose dad was big into amway. The rebuttal to saying it doesn't work is "the ceo is worth millions." I went with them to pick up their order of "the products they were buying anyway". just a bunch of sad people getting generic branded shite.
I got an amway gift card from a family member when I got married. I assume that counts as a sale and you can imagine the initial sales pitch.

My wife actually made some decent side money selling Mary Kay, but I think that might be the exception when it comes to main stream acceptance. She also never tried to build a "team" or any shite like that, just sold it to relatives and friends who already used it anyway.
