With all due respect to Ms Garr and the rest of Hollywood's actresses, but Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca is the most beautiful woman to ever be shown on a movie screen.

Andy Dufrane had a poster of Raquel Welch in his cell. She was smokin.

Yeah, the short scene of her in The Magic Christian made me pop a boner real quick.

How about some Rita Hayworth??

She's been discussed in the thread, already, chief - you have a specific movie in which to nominate her?

(The OP is arguing that Teri Garr in YF is the most beautiful woman in a singular role - while I'm not disagreeing that Rita Hayworth is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood history - the point is to tie a specific beautiful actress to a role in which she was particularly fetching - at least in a beautiful way).

To help you out, she was ~26 in Cover Girl, 27 in Tonight and Every Night, 28 in Gilda (already been nominated for that), 29 in Down to Earth and The Lady from Shanghai - I'll bet you credits to navy beans it was one of those.

monica is one gorgeous, but i am not familiar with much of her work. but she does make me happy in pants

She got my attention in Tears of the Sun. I think mostly euro movies or perhaps got a late start in the biz.

This and the terrible Matrix sequels.

She was 39 already in Tears of the Sun, but still pretty smokin'.

Her first Hollywood movie appears to have been Under Suspicion with Hackman and Freeman.

I think she's in this league, but still not even the most beautiful actress from Italy (Sophia in El Cid):

If you you are going to throw Monica in I believe Sophie should be added as well.

This is the right answer. Or this: Jane Powell in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

For me, Dana Delaney in Tombstone has always been one of my faves in terms of "classic beauty."

Granted... this one wasn't from Tombstone, but I figured I would throw it out there:

No mention of Natalie Wood in West Side Story?

Or Katherine Ross in The Graduate.

Say what..

I know everyone's got their own opinion and all that but how does a topic with "the most beautiful woman in a single role." in the title get to post like this in 5 pages?

Delaney is pretty but we're not talking about pretty here.

Monica Belucci is a few posts above you for the love of God.

Natalie Wood is a good one though.

Oh you were finished? Well then, allow me to retort...

My opinion was that her beauty (accentuated?) in that role was necessary for the role to be considered a success. She was successful in looking gorgeous and playing that flirty role so that seducing Wyatt Earp was believable. Do I think Dana Delaney is more attractive than Monica Belucci??? No way! But her in that role always sticks out I me with her HAVING to be gorgeous and pulling it off...

Teri Garr in Young Frahnkensteen was made up to be gorgeous because her in jeans and hair pulled back wouldn't have worked. Similar thing for me with this example...

Sorry to offend!

Catherine Deneuve was hot in Repulsion (younger and more girlish looking than this photo, but there were some amazing moments).

Natalie Wood never did it for me. There are some great pictures of her and she was gorgeous in WSS.
