Because that's not what happened

Hell, there was on screen fighting still occurring after both the destruction of the MS and the city destroyer near Area 51. Not to meation all the prisoners

That's what the movie said happened. They said there must have been a queen on the mothership. They mentioned all the prisoner aliens had been dormant the whole time until they all "woke" up, and as soon as the queen died here all the others "died". They obviously fricked up and tried to change ID1, but the hive mind doesn't make any sense.

had personality. I can handle a first hour without action when you have Will Smith and interesting character development.

Serious question- would this movie been better if will smith had been in it? Although he has had some stinkers the last few years, when I found out he wouldn't be in id-2 I lost any desire to see it.

It was almost as if it was a whole different race of aliens attacking because they changed the rules this time around. There was no mention of a queen in the first ID4, and there was nothing to suggest a "hive mind" type of connection. Obviously for this new alien mythology to work, there must be multiple queens, like in the "Alien" series.

It mentioned that there were several queens like the one we saw. They actually recalled the ship from Earth when the queen was killed.

I think the writers wanted you to believe that the queen knew someone in the bus had something to do with destroying her ship.

But I may be thinking with a little to much logic for this movie.

Saw it, a lot of issues.

First off, I can see keeping some alien in prison, but why in their battle suits? Why not keep them as their weak normal selves? I thought that was very odd.

Then the queen being the size of Godzilla?

The actor who played Capt. Hiller stunk. Pointless scene killing off Vivica A Fox.

I did like the probe that is going to show them a world of civilization united to destroy the ID4 aliens.

Or how about sending a giant 3,000 mile wide ship to a planet, drilling to within a few hundred feet of it's core only to remotely call it back to deep space, rather than turning on the laser for another minute.

That was one very boring movie. It has almost no action at all. One real dogfight that lasts like 30 seconds. 1st hour is almost completely pointless. I have no idea what half the characters are even doing in this movi

Agree with this. I kept waiting for the real invasion to start. Didn't care about these new characters or their backstories. The characters were so cliche and goofy. I did enjoy Goldblum though, he did his humor and I like it.

those bad-arse African guys had been fighting the aliens for a long time, right?

I still don't understand how fighting the aliens on the ground can make one literate in their language.

I wondered this too. I wondered so many things during this movie.

The initial entry of the big ship was the only real damage caused by the aliens. Seems like there was no real invasion. Oh, that great trap the queen laid? Letting some human with their bombs INSIDE her ship? Genius.

I'm not even trolling, as far as alien invasion movies go, Pixels was better.

Yep, lots of people just like myself.

Enjoyed the first one and hated the second.

Exactly. Unlike the first film, there was no real invasion this time.

Yes, but when was the last time Jeff Goldblum carried a movie as a lead?

They mention something about how being so close to the aliens gave them a sort of mental bond, which helped them understand.

It was an alright movie, I was surprise it ended up being only 2 hours if not less. The original one was like a lot longer.

I like the little nod they gave to Will Smith that he is the only human that can ever punch an Alien in the face. the rest keep on getting their asses kicked.

As for the President daughter, I thought for sure Will Smith Son and her would hook up base on the little bond they had as kid.

Or Will smith son and that chinese girl to do a fake out on that dude who liked her.

THe Dog fight was disappointing. Big time. Should have been able to give a bet more than they got.

I liked Bill Pullman but he looked weird without his beard.

I was kind of mad that the Stripper form the first movie died when the Jewish dad still lived. Like seriously, you going with the old trope that black people dies first?

As for other Aliens Races forming a Coalition I like it.

One thing that surprised me and didn't sit right with me would be the reveal that Data was gay felt extremely shoe horned in.

Another movie question: This was possibly answered when I checked out of paying close attention but how was the queen's shield disabled? Also how were they able to plane out the alien ships instead of crashing into the ground head on? I thought they had complete engine failure.
