Saw it last night.Looking in the laundry room for the bleach so I can wash the images from my eyes.Blatant pitch at the end for Independence Day 3. Hopefully, it'll wait 20 more years before being released. I'm sure Judd Hirsch will be in it complaining about his ear hair or his goiter.

Supposedly studio executives butchered it in the editing room and that shows on screen. The original run time was 2 hours and 30 minutes. Same thing that happened to Batman vs. Superman.

Took my kiddo and some of his buddies to see it, they are all 10 and loved it.
It was probably the worst movie I've seen in several years.

I just got out of the theater and im home now.
That was one very boring movie. It has almost no action at all. One real dogfight that lasts like 30 seconds. 1st hour is almost completely pointless. I have no idea what half the characters are even doing in this movie. They have almost no point.
Why is Jeff Goldblum even in this movie? His character doesn't even do anything
The whole movie felt monotone, none of the personality and charm carried over from the first movie. Im kinda dissapointed.

As a fan of mindless action flicks, this movie fricking sucked donkey dick. 30 mins in and I was already checking my watch hoping it was close to over. It didn't make a damn lick of sense. One gripe I have: those bad-arse African guys had been fighting the aliens for a long time, right? That's how that got so good. BUT, why didn't those aliens go lifeless just like all the rest after the blew up the mother-ship in ID1?

After re-watching the first movie, I feel like you can say the same about the original at least. Maybe not a full hour, but it took forever for that movie to get going as well.

At least the characters in the first movie had personality. I can handle a first hour without action when you have Will Smith and interesting character development.

Saw it last night.
1. So Will Smith's girlfriend in the first movie was a stripper and now in this movie she is a doctor. This was just pathetic. She should have died holding onto her stripper pole and with her other hand holding her cocaine bag. She suddenly loses her grip hold on her pole and falls into a crack. This would have been more realistic.
2. The strippers son is apparently the main pilot in this movie. He pays tribute to his deceased dad, Will Smith, but in the first movie the stripper already had a kid when Will started dating her. I wonder where his real dad was b/c Will Smith is simply the step dad.

Saw it this afternoon. I was disappointed that the aliens didn't actually attack like they did in the first movie. Most of the devastation was due to the arrival of the massive harvester ship. Changing the intent of the attack from the first film to the next didn't make much sense.
Falling Skies on TNT was probably the most realistic depiction of how aliens would attack, if an invasion were possible. First, they generated a massive EMP that shut down power and wiped out all communication. Then, they nuked major population centers from the air. Lastly, they sent down ground troops to round up the survivors.

Maybe because the editing was awful. Awful. Awful. Otherwise it wouldn't have been so bad.

It absolutely was. Everything felt so jarring and sudden.

Not sure if serious. The step son is the son. Pretty sure anyone with half a brain could read between the lines and see that will smith character was the only father in the kids life, thus, the pilot in this movie is his son.

It's on too separate levels.
1. Scenes seem rushed and sudden. It ges from point a to point b to point c with little to no connection assuming we don't care. That's just lazy.
2. The actual lengths per shot are super short. Why is the movie afraid of me taking it in. If you have something cool to show, maybe let us watch a shot for more than 2.5 seconds per shot.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with letting a movie breathe a bit.

Whoever busted out laughing at Perkins Rowe last night when Bill Pullman showed up on screen in that flight suit... You suck.
You threw me into a laughing fit that caused my wife to punch me in the leg until I got control of myself.
Other than that, I was able to keep my laughter to myself.

Just finished watching it. It sucked really bad.
I really liked the first one. This abortion was so bad it seemed like something you would see on the sci-fi channel late at night. Very disappointing.

Because that's not what happened
Hell, there was on screen fighting still occurring after both the destruction of the MS and the city destroyer near Area 51. Not to meation all the prisoners kept.
Better question is why did they make them to be an Ender's Game style hive. Recalling the harvester ship remotely makes perfect sense. What doesn't is killing all the little fighters in a nice little bow.
Also, why the hell were the Africans fighting hand to hand so long. It seems like the ESD's (or whatever predecessor it had) first act would be to scour the planet for aliens.
By and large I enjoyed it for what it was.
The only plot hole that bugged the hell out of me was "Oh look, our outer defenses were destroyed and first alien contact in 20 years occurred, and we fired on them. That shite takes a back burner to a memorial speech though, we'll get back to it in a bit."
Was able to forgive the timing issue that it would take 20 years to respond....but that?

Like others have said...as a fan of mindless action films, I went in with low expectations, and somehow they managed to even get lower than that.
They basically coldly exploited any possible harkening back to the original film. The movie was a disaster start to finish. In every way.
The "plot", acting, and dialogue are Sharknado worthy.

Painful to sit through.
Two hours and 50 bucks I'll never get back.

Question about film: Why was the queen so obsessed with the bus full of kids when she had what she wanted in her hand?
