Those two guys fighting were rock monsters, like the one Thor killed at the beginning of Dark World. Not sure what they're called

GotG Ego/Knowhere Secret

Pretty solid theory on the MCU Celestials. It might even foreshadow what could take place when/if Thanos tries to court Death. But that's just me speculating

Loved the movie! I think I liked it better than the first. The villain and his plot was actually pretty good and thought out.

Y'all think Quill was the first because his mom was the only time Ego was in love? Quill only became powerful after he was told to use his heart.

saw it last night.

better story, better humor, more heart, better fleshing out of characters, but much worse movie than the first.

the over the top crudeness with Drax was also a bit much. i took my kids and i'm pretty sure that they now have no question of how babies are made.

i pluggedinonline/commonsense media every pg-13 movie i see with the kids, and they both strongly underplayed the sexual innuendos.

but... still great.

That makes zero sense.

How old are your kids?

i know. that's just what i came away with. i came away really liking the humor (as an adult) how they grew some of the characters, and the plot with Ego. but as a whole i put it several pegs below the first. Maybe because the first was just such a pleasant surprise.

7 and 10. 99% of marvel jokes, innuendoes, bad language, i don't care. they're light hearted enough or over the kids' head enough they don't get it. they keep it clean enough for them.

engorged nether regions, impregnating 100s of women, does he have a penis, etc. were a bit unsuspected... and like i said, i looked it up beforehand and the two sources i trust, downplayed that element.

i mean they're not melting, but Dave Bautista pretty much gave my kids the birds and the bees talk.

I know it sounds funny the way he said it, but I think he's kind of describing the issues with a sequel. I think it's extreme to say it's "much worse", but I didn't have that same feeling leaving the movie as I did the first one.

I'd also say that the story was better, more heart & better fleshing out of the characters. I think the first was just as funny though.

I will say this though, the farther away I get from vol. 2, the more I like it.

I will admit. I was a little surprised at some of the jokes especially Drax referring to Ego's penis but I shrugged it off. Let's be honest though, the kids already know what's going on with the penis. Unless they asked you about it after the movie.

It's as if they met after the success of Vol.1, saw what people really liked about it (humor and music) and said, let's make the next one all about the humor and the music. So you get a ton of jokes with much less serious matter. You get multiple meta moments with people referring to the soundtrack of their own film. I understand people thinking that it has much better parts than the first one, while not adding up to a better movie.

That's because the first was so unexpected. This one has a standard to live up to.

they did not fortunately.

but during that whole conversation with Ego and Drax, i could feel my baptist wife's eyes drilling holes of hate into my soul.

I agree, it came off corny IMO. Good movie but the first was miles better in terms of balance.

1) I'm sorry you don't get to have sex standing up.

2) Now you know how to get the kids to not by telling them the stories of their conception on the winter solstice. This is a win even for her upbringing.

Well, the first one wasn't exactly 100% without innuendos or the use of curse words.

Bitch, shite and dick were all used. As well as Quill referencing hooking up with a Rajak and Kree girls. Not openly saying it but the implication is there.

I was surprised by it, and glad my almost 6 year old is still young enough to not really know what they were talking about.
I know rocket is an ahole, but he cursed an awful lot in this movie.
The PG-13 was really PG-13. kids in that 8-12 range definitely were not the target audience.

PG-13 = parents strongly cautioned, a rating in the Voluntary Movie Rating System indicating that some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
