I thought the total opposite. Story and character development exceeded the first. Soundtrack wasn't as good as the first.

About to go see it again, this time drunk.

Speaking as someone who hasn't opened a Marvel comic since the KISS cameo in the original Howard the Duck (can't believe no prior mention of HIS cameo in GoTG2!), I enjoyed both films equally.
Soundtrack was not up to the original, but made up for it in the final 15 minutes - "Father & Son" was the perfect sendoff for Yandu, and "Surrender" and "Flashlight" kicked the credits up a huge notch.
One other thing I haven't seen in this thread - give Sean Gunn some props as Kragin, that was an awesome plot development - I love it when a relatively minor character comes through as a stand-up guy.
Hope he learns to control that arrow a little better and becomes a regular.

Only issue I had with the movie was the amount of cheese in it. Lots of sentimentality that rang about false because either the actors weren't quite up to task or the dialogue was too sappy. Otherwise was enjoyable.

Just left the theater.
Enjoyable, fun movie but damn if that wasn't the cheesesiest thing I've seen in a long time.
Poor acting and bad dialog.
Recycled 'we have to get to the center of the weapon/ship/Planet and take out the core' plot.
Marvel with a Giant Face Villain for the second movie in a row.
It really was nowhere near as good as the first.
That said...I enjoyed it.
Going to read through the thread now.

Saw it over the weekend and finally ran all the way through this thread.
Loved the movie. Just as fun as the first IMO. Draxx is probably my favorite character, comedic wise, in the Marvel universe.
Also, , at everyone in this thread mentioning the 'crudeness' of a PG-13 movie when taking kids who are like 10-years-old.
This was directed right at you....

You and your movie taste is clearly horrible.

Well Doctor Strange was the last movie and Kaecilius was just a normal sized dude so you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

He's referring to Dormammu. He wasn't a giant head either. He was a massive demon who you primarily see just his face because of his size.

Don't you feel like an idiot.
He is 100% right. The movie is cheesy as frick. It's a fun movie, but it really has some cringe worthy moments. And Chris Pratt's charm can't save some of the dialogue. I don't think anyone's charm could.

Just saw it for a 2nd time last night (went with a friend who barely gets out to see movies) and it was even better the 2nd time around.
Major props to Chris Pratt for the acting. The emotion he showed felt so real when Ego told him he killed his mom.

Cheesiest thing in the movie was TazerFace and his gang of idiots. Their lines and the way they delivered them was cringe worthy.
I didn't hate the movie, I enjoyed it.
Just pointing out some flaws (like how bad the CGI was for the blue blob taking over Missouri, especially when compared to the awesome CGI used for young KRussell).

I think that was kind of the point

My favorite songs in the movie were the lesser known ones. Brandy and Come a Little Closer are on loop at my house. Did not like the inclusion of so many mainstream songs though.

I've actually listened to the new soundtrack a couple times at work this week. As I listen to it more, the more I like it. The first one is still a little better though.

I watched it for the first time on Tuesday.
I didn't think it was as good as the first (which I've seen more than 15 times), but I still enjoyed the hell out of it.
Zoe Saldana is so, so, so, so, so, so hot.

This era was just a little before my time but were Lake Shore Drive, Father and Son, and Southern Nights mainstream? I'm really digging those along with the one's that I do know were big (Mr Blue Sky, Fox on the Run, Brandy, etc.)
Needless to say I'm really enjoying the soundtrack.
