Remained in KL, which was probably where Ned got it from in the first place.

Yes. That was Ice.

It should have been, but Tywin doesn't give a rats arse about protocol.

So Rob has not had a Valyrian steel sword this whole time, just a regular sword? John, has a Valyrian sword that belonged to the Mormont man, right?

Wasn't Ned's father burned to death in King's Landing?

I wouldn't think the Mad King would have sent Ice to him in the Vale when he was one of the leaders of the rebellion.

Since I don't know what will happen next, I thought it would ok to post on show night as I am HODOR in that respect. Otherwise, I will be in the middle ground thread so I can ask questions.

Yes, so you're assuming Ice was with him. Okay

Yeah, but she's the one hot Frey. The rest of them are a bunch of really ugly, weasely people.

I'd marry a Frey for her weight in silver.

Ok, so Ned's dad made Ice? Who made the Mormont sword?

I'm pretty sure its safe to assume that Ned's father didn't have Ice with him when he was in KL.

The sword pops up in Ned's flashbacks so that wouldn't make sense.

Not as far as I know. They don't go into the backstory of how it was made, just that it was in the Stark family for generations.

No clue. Some families are just lucky enough to have Valyrian steel swords I think.

It's been in the Stark family longer than that.

Ice is the oldest sword in Westeros I think, something like 4-5 hundred years old.

Mormont's sword is also a family heirloom but not as old

Valyrian steel swords are hundreds of years old and passed down from Lords to first sons. If the elder son dies it gets passed down.

Well it seems odd to me that the Mormonts can acquire one for hundreds of years, but the Lannisters and Baratheons don't have one. But then again, maybe those families aren't as old. Also, it would make sense to me that the mad king would have had a Valyrian steel sword and Jamie could have taken it from him after killing him.

The Lannisters did have one but I think some dumbass Lannister lost it in a river.

The baratheons are Targaryen based and have a young history.
