It wasn't held back by its targeted audience like superhero films, i.e. Pg13.

I thought it was a really good movie. I was a fan of the original films so I knew what I was getting coming in. I actually watched it online, while still in theatres, and still thought it was good.

Simply wasn't a real story. Road Warrior did it better without tacking on a fake totally unbelievable happy ending.

yeah i agree

if this was the first road warrior, i'd give it more respect. it's an attempt to remake road warrior with a message and it fails at both being big (the message it attempts that leads to that retarded ending) and being small (it's just another road warrior. nothing really new)

it wasn't bad, but best picture? get the frick out

note: i really wanted to like this movie, too. it just had way too much "wtf" in it to be considered that good

with wonderful world-building

i completely disagree

any positives of the world building is destroyed with the laughable parts (the feminist shite, the ending, etc)

Yeah it was one of my least favorite movies I saw in theaters in 2015.

I don't get the love for it at all. It was nauseating and gave me a killer headache.

The soundtrack, the visuals and what's going on with the characters with just their body language and when they're not talking, they're still acting their asses off. It's the best action movie of the last decade. The movie wasn't just going to spell out things for you with dialogue like most movies.

But this movie, initially loved and adored on TD, is bashed because it's the cool, new hip trend that happens so many times on here: TDK, TFA, Django Unchained, many of the Marvel movies, and so many more.

We've come full circle.

Circle jerk --> anti jerk --> circle jerk again.

I saw it in theaters. 6/10. The story sucked. I "got it". It was just a really lame story with a really stupid ending.

Best action film of all time

BTW I could totally see Bachman saying what I quoted.

I thought Max Max and the Martian were solid movies, but best picture nominations were kind of laughable.

Saw Mad Max in Imax and I liked it, but no way in hell did I think it should be up for best picture.

It was entertaining, but best of the year? frick no.

I watched it last night for the first time and kind of felt the same way. I have seen the originals and to me this one was just so over the top it was hard to watch.

Movies are meant to be viewed in theaters. Sometimes you're not able to and that's fine. But it's especially the case with this movie.

I do not disagree but most people have pretty solid TV's these days. A movie that is considered to be one of the best of the year should be able to translate to people's homes.

Most likely but I really liked Dredd

its a pretty simple movie. Entertaining but pretty simple.

Because Mad Max fans act like they are superior to anyone that did not think the movie was the GOAT. If you are just now watching Mad Max you are going into with Best Picture expectations.

I enjoyed it UNTIL.... ridiculous ending. Really dreadful ending. Absolutely no way it would happen that way. those chicks would be sex slaves the second they got back up top.

The ending is where it lost you? It took you that long?

The movie was fine. I think the fact it was nominated for Best Picture (I mean, wtf?!?) takes away from peoples' perception of the movie.

I actually enjoyed The Martian more, which probably proves that a Mad Max type of movie isn't really for me.

How in the hell is this movie nominated for so many awards

I agree. I enjoyed the Mel Gibson ones so much more. It was entertaining, but no where near Academy status, except for maybe some of the technical awards.

No background story, no character development, not much of a plot.

There is a lot of background, you just have to pay attention. The movie doesn't just lay everything out for you, but it sketches out these full backstories in brief character moments, which is wonderfully efficient filmmaking. I mean, the cut from the opening scene from the brand right to the back of Furiosa's neck is a nice bit of character building without having to tell us everything.

Completely disagree on character building. The story of Nox's development is one of the best things about the film. He has all of his assumptions about the world stripped away, and he must rebuild his worldview. Who killed the world? Max, as well, grows substantially in the course of the film, as does Furiosa. Joe does not, and it is his downfall.

Plot. OK, you got me. There isn't much of one. This is a character based movie, and there's a lot of world building, and hints at a much deeper world around every corner, but it's not plot heavy. That will bother some people who need plot on top of plot.

I really enjoyed it. pure action movie. and it moves fast.

great characters. I thought Furiosa was done very well.

very fun visuals and TOm Hardy is perfect for the role.

some of yall need to lighten up and not take everything so seriously. the reason they opened up the potential nominees for BP is to be better able to cater to all genres. why does that upset you?

Ex Machina was good. But those types of movies cater to pretentious douche bags like some of yall. make a clever point with good style and then the movie will have fan boys to prop it up as the BEST EVAR!

relax people.

Visually it was very intriguing, and it had some intense action sequences. The rest of the movie had no substance.

i hope all the people saying this felt the same about avatar and it being nominated.

I've got a great tv and better sound than any theater. Fury Road was still nothing special.
