i only brought that one up because everybody was pumping the shite out of it at the time, i went and saw it, thought... nice graphics... but that was it. horrible in every other way.

then somebody nominated it for best picture (WTactualF) and it was "surprisingly" beat by hurt locker.

The soundtrack, the visuals and what's going on with the characters with just their body language and when they're not talking, they're still acting their asses off. It's the best action movie of the last decade. The movie wasn't just going to spell out things for you with dialogue like most movies.

That was a pathetic excuse to explain why this movie is supposed to be great. You are grasping at straws.

The people that say they enjoyed this movie, you are a different breed. However you saw the "beauty" of this film is beyond me, but i guess it's good someone out there found enjoyment in this crapfest.

You don't have to try to sound all high and mighty about why this movie was good. You liked it b/c you like these types of movies, whatever that is. I like the newer Fast and the Furious movies. I'm not going to try to prove to you why they are good movies. I like them b/c I do (as well as a couple hundred million other people in the world). Simple as that, and I can understand why others might not like them.

But this movie, initially loved and adored on TD, is bashed because it's the cool, new hip trend that happens so many times on here

The reason it was loved at first, is b/c people that saw it first were the people that wanted to see it and were excited about it. Most other people never heard of it, then saw the praise on here, decided to see it after it got out the theaters, and then came back on here to say how bad it was.

It's not some hip trend to not like it. It's a stupid movie that many people didn't enjoy.

I thought Max Max and the Martian were solid movies, but best picture nominations were kind of laughable.

Agree. Even though I'd put the Martian a hair below "solid". Thought it was pretty good, expected better

Avatar was average at best. It was getting so much hype because of the theater 3D experience, which was awesome

Hardy sucked IMO. He only grunted the whole movie and said about 20 words

Like Leo in Revenant, the actors don't get to decide how much and what they say. That's on the script/director. It's like it's their fault they didn't talk more....

When I saw it in theaters, my impression was: "What a ride! The whole deal of going back to the starting point was an uncreative way of finishing the plot, but that's OK. It made sense." Never crossed my mind that this would get nominated for anything except maybe costume and set design. Best picture? Definitely not.

Now looking back at it, I actually think the "feminism" angle wasn't done all that well. As much as they can take care of themselves, when the real crux of the problem comes along, they have to rely on Max. And I honestly think the feminism in the movie is the sole reason for its nomination. It was a pretty movie in a lot of ways, and executed well, but it's plot was pretty garbage to be nominated for Best Picture and while the minimalist world and character builder was appreciated insofar as it didn't treat the audience like morons, it was fairly well lacking in much of it, imo.

Was it even intended? I doubt it. Some women did what any rational person would do and it's suddenly a feminist movement in Hollywood? They didn't like being sex slaves so they escaped. Charlize Theron is a woman. Awesome. She's the first female character in an action movie in the history of cinema. Ground breaking.

I've got a great tv and better sound than any theater. Fury Road was still nothing special.
Same here, I get a better experience (especially with sound) at my house. I felt Fury Road was a solid time killer, nothing more.

It was average at best. It appeals more to the Affliction and bedazzled jeans pockets crowd.
