re: Fargo vs True Detective

It is not a ripoff. The Coen brothers produced both the 1996 movie and this series and this series is way better than the movie anyway. You obviously aren't watching it.

IMO Fargo is way better

BBT in Fargo is incredible

It's gonna be weird to go back to Sherlock after seeing Martin Freeman act the way he does in Fargo

TD was good but Fargo blows it out of the water IMO

re: Fargo vs True Detective
I enjoyed both immenselly.

I have looked forward to every episode of each. I have been kept on the edge of my seat wanting more at the end of all episodes of both series.

And now the difference:

What I loved about TD moreso that Fargo. I absolutely loved the feel of TD. The setting, the set, the score, the dialogue, the actors, the lighting, the time frame, the cinematography of it. TD felt darker, more sinister, more real. I wanted to be a part of TD. Fargo feels more fictional, comedic, and chirpy. I don't enjoy the feel of it.

What I love about Fargo over TD. The story. The writing, the plots, events, interactions, movement, the anticipation. The writers did a better job than the TD writers.

TD was like good sex with a smokin hot sloot. Fargo is like the game of chasing down a potential gf

I just looked up his IMDB page to see what else he was in. I had no idea he was the guy doing the stand-in acting getting fake bj's and having fake sex in Love Actually

I always forget he was Tim in the British The Office and Rickey C in Ali G in Da House. Hahah

I agree completely. Thank God for HBO, FX, AMC and Netflix for putting out some good series.

After last night's episode I have chosen to change my position....they are equal.

Fargo has these awesome turning points that totally blow your mind. However, it's frustrating when they take liberties with feasibility.

TD- everything lead up to the final episode. TD is a masterpiece of film and storytelling. And it's totally believable that it's story could have existed.

So actually nevermind, TD > Fargo, but this last episode was sooo good.

I fell asleep from boredom trying to watch the first episode of TD. Haven't tried again since. Have enjoyed Fargo so far. Maybe I'll give TD another shot that isn't before bed so I can attempt to focus on it better.

I would just sell your tv since you obviously suck at watching it. How could you get bored by TD? Not enough 'splosions?

I want to go with Fargo, but 2 reasons make it extremely hard to choose Fargo over TD.

I thought the first few episodes of Fargo were a bit slow, but then each week it seemed to pick up the pace and the last two episodes have just been goddamn amazing.

I couldn't keep up with FArgo after the first 3 episodes so I quit watching. I also found Dr Watson annoying - like he was imitating William H Macy.

That's the point of the show. It's a tall tale. That's why Paul Bunyan is in the opening shot of the film, and I believe a statue of him appeared last night. It's supposed to be based in reality, but some weird and exaggerated things happen.

TD is gritty and extremely realistic. Fargo is eccentric and "out there". I understand why the two can and will be compared and linked, probably forever, but they are very different.

re: Fargo vs True Detective
I'd say True Detective was better but if we're giving out grades Fargo would get a 95 and TD would get a 100.

Both were great. I just loved the dark tone and constant suspense of TD.

re: Fargo vs True Detective
They're two completely different shows. It's like comparing Meet the Parents to Good fellas.

True Detective is way deeper and darker than Fargo and Fargo is much less serious and lighthearted.

True Detective was probably the greatest single season of television ever after Twin Peaks season 1.

Honestly, if TD wasn't set in Louisiana, you wouldn't be in the minority.

Comments like this are so absurd.

It's not like the only people fascinated by True detective were solely from LA.
