At the beginning when Strange was on the phone in his car talking about new cases the first one was about a 34 year old man with a broken back testing some experimental armor. Was that supposed to be War Machine?

Tilda Swinton was such a badass as the Ancient One. The trailers had me a bit concerned about her but she delivered excellently. I hope matter manipulation isn't done with in the MCU with her and Kaecillius out of the picture. It would be awesome to see other heroes fighting in a sequence with it.

I'd say the post-credit scene with Thor has to be in Thor 3 as Tom Hiddleston has speculated that Thor 3 is his last appearance as Loki and the only reason I could see Thor needing to come to Doctor Strange is the need of a portal for whatever reason. Potentially to search beyond the 9 realms.

Finally saw this. Very basic Marvel formula. Cumberbatch's nerdy American accent was a disappointment. They should've gone with his normal British accent.

I actually thought that was very well done on his part, didn't sound forced or artificial to me at all. For comparison, look at Andrew Lincoln's "southern" accent on the walking dead.

IIRC, also referenced a girl getting struck by lightning. Is that Captain Marvel???

Yes. They're tweaking the Capt Marvel origin story to keep it more terrestrial. They're scared of another Green Lantern type failure if they make it alien. So that call was a subtle hint at it.

Either War Machine or the guy that was testing the Hammer armor in IM2.

That's a really good theory. It would place Strange's accident earlier in the timeline allowing him years to reach Sorcerer Supreme level mastery by the time the current movies are set. I like it.

I don't know if they will make sure get her powers via lightning. That was/is Shazam's deal. Unless Marvel wants to really slap DC in the mouth before DC gets a chance to release their Captain Marvel movie.

They said Air Force Colonel, but the age is off. Rhodes is in his late-40's (you can't make Colonel until you're 41-42 at the absolute earliest)

Don Cheadle is 51 and in the movie credits Rhodes has been listed as a Lieutenant, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colonel.

They could just be pushing it with Cheadle, making him 34 in the current Marvel timeline while he's 51 (though that would've made him a very young Lieutenant in Iron Man).

Or the "experimental armor" was referring to Dane Whitman, the Black Knight. The Ebony Blade was made as a prop for the film, but was cut out of the final script. LINK

quote:

"It was [going to be in the movie]," Gibbs said when the solid black blade was pointed out. "That was going to go into a book called the Lexicon of Relics, but the Ebony Blade was taken out of the script. I don't quite know why. Again, as things evolved, it wasn't pertinent to the script. Things just moved on."

Finally saw it. The most visually stunning Marvel movie to date. Very interesting concepts. A lot going on with the mythology. Admittedly, I'm not too familiar with Dr Strange. But even with all of the chaos going on, they still managed to make a good movie. I enjoyed it.

8/10. The visuals and action sequences alone make it worthwhile.

I wasn't optimistic with the way Marvel handled The Mandarin. They were too afraid to portray the magical rings. So I wasn't optimistic they would be able to bring Strange to life.

I thought they did a great job for 98% of the movie, then went to shite with Mordo going all squirrely so easily.

Eh, but he needed to go that way. His justification was ok, but yeah it happened way too fast.
