Just got out. Enjoyed it a good bit. Visuals were absolutely amazing. Humor was pretty on point, too. Didn't feel as forced as some of the other recent sfuff.

Just got out of it, and it was enjoyable. The visuals were fantastic, and I did like Dr Strange. It's finally nice to have a villain that isn't just evil, a corporate jack off, or on some sort of revenge kick.

Granted I have to say that Rachel McAdams as the love interest is the most worthless one yet. Really, she added nothing to the plot. Doesn't have any major plot she helps out with or develop Strange as a character. Really just seems as they needed a hot chick, put a bunch of actresses name on a dart board, and then didn't put any thought into it whatsoever.

Mordo's motivation for turning bad was also super contrived IMO. It just felt so rushed and forced and unbelievable. They basically said, he's bad in the comics, so just go with it and don't ask questions.

Just got out. The visuals were cool, the director deserves high praise for some of that trippy shite he pulled off. With that being said, this movie bored me. I literally gave no fricks about any of the characters, or what was going on. This one just didn't work for me. One of Marvels weaker films. JMHO.

The movie was okay. The trippy visuals were definitely the high point. The acting by the cast was good, especially Benedict Cumberbatch. Benedict Wong was great as a minor character as well.

The problem with the movie is that it had a messy plot and a boring story at that. Doesn't matter how great the visuals were because the lack of gravitas in the story didn't give them weight. Think of Inception, a movie that at some points had a similar visual style to Dr. Strange. Inception better utilized the special effects for world building because there was a strong story driving the characters to go through the bizarre worlds. However in Dr. Strange, the visuals are just there because why not. They don't help much to drive the plot. It was more just for astetics than it was for purpose.

I loved it. Pretty awesome villain for once. Visuals were fricking nuts, it'll get them an Oscar.

I didn't have an issue with him "turning bad", he thinks they've gone too far off the path and wants to burn it all down.

yes. as was logan. full hardon for that one.

Kaecilius (who was a total bit character in the comic books) and Dormammu

i liked it. i'd probably put it towards the mid-bottom of comic films over all but still better than green lantern, FF, X3, BvS, etc. probably somewhere above ant-man, but below thor

visuals were fantastic. one of the few movies i'm glad i saw in 3d.

I saw it last night in IMAX 3D and visually it was phenomenal. I agree there were holes in the plot, but it's a superhero movie so I'm not expecting anything too deep.

I enjoyed it but am a fan of Cumberbatch and admit as the central character he carried it. I'd see it again.

The cape was involved in some unexpected comedy, which I enjoyed.

It was a typical Marvel movie with stunning visuals. I do agree with the poster who mentioned that the plot was boring. The middle of the movie dragged pretty hard. I get that it's good to have humor, but 90% of Marvel's heroes feel the exact same. They all make these little quips and are arrogant jokesters.

So with Capt America, Thor, Iron Man, Ant Man, Falcon, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, and Star Lord it's become a best of "one liner" competition. Strange and Stark are pretty much the same character just science vs mysticism.

Yep, only Cumberbatch is nowhere near as charismatic as RDJ. I really didn't care for his character at all in this movie.

Some of the jokes hit, others were so cringey. They just love stuffing those quips in there when it's not even needed.

So what the hell can the rest of the avengers do if a bad guy rips apart earth and they aren't in the mirror dimension? Seems like this multiverse is too much for earths heroes and just stranges fight

I am still surprised by how much negative feedback this is getting. Then again it seems like every comic movie has gotten trashed.

I just got out of 3D IMAX and I really enjoyed it. It is a fairly standard origin story but had some good twist. Dr. Strange looked the part.

Plus, haven't seen it talked about enough, but the action scenes were great. The visual effects blended into the action seamlessly.

I have seen every super bero movie this year and this was one of the best.

I didn't take it as him going bad, but more of giving up the protector role and going back to a normal life, ala the guy that fixed his broken back.

I just got out of it and while it's still fresh in my mind, I absolutely love to this movie.

I don't know where it falls in the Marvel film ranking, but I would certainly put in the top half. Maybe top 5.

SPOILER

The final confrontation with Dormammu is clever and better than the straight up fight these films normally end with. The manner in which Dormammu attacks is what I expect the visuals will look like when the showdown with Thanos occurs.

The negative feedback this film is getting is confusing. It's great and has an identity all its own and doesn't rely too much on Marvel Cinematic continuity.

I liked it, but to me it feels as if it should have had another draft. It really seems like a two draft movie. First time they forgot to add the love interest and Mordo turning evil, and then just tagged them on without thinking it through. Rachel McAdams disappears for like an hour and really does nothing to the plot. Going back to the Hospital was just awkward. They should have thought that through more.

But the villain was in the right direction. Best one they've had on a while.
