The topic at discussion is the Dark Knight Rises. If this topic were about Avengers, I'm sure people would post their gripes about it. However, like I said, Avengers doesn't try to be anything but a comic book movie (which I feel needs to be emphasized for some here) where as Nolan tried to make more out of Batman. In one interview with him, he even stated that they really tried to stay away from the comics. In my opinion doing this lead to some really big holes. However, I give much respect to Nolan for not using CGI. That alone makes me respect these films.

At the end of the day...
Nolan's Non Batman movies > Nolan's Batman movies.
Nolan's Non Batman movies > Nolan's Batman movies.

Link? All 3 of his movies took plot elements straight from the comics.

I'm in the minority, but I still really enjoyed it.
Same here, I see the discrepancies and plot holes that others see, but I really don't get the hate for this movie. It's just fantastic.

It's truly annoying how this board will break down a Nolan film like it's a goddamn Fellini movie or something. Zomg did the top really keep spinning? Is Bruce really dead? Good god, this board is atrocious for film discussion.
I was wondering if you still posted here, that answers my question.

why does avengers get a pass. and the dark knight rises is very entertaining, but flawed too. the definitive version of batman will always be the animated series

Just like I prefer Mark Hamil's joker over the rest

even in the animated series, he uses gadgets to fight bane.

From the moment Bruce became Batman the city of Gotham only got worse, and he is responsible for a lot of it.
That's simply not true. Prior to TDKR, Wayne had completed his mission - to rid Gotham of the institutionalized corruption. He only returns when Bane appears to reignite a fire he thought he had extinguished when he killed Ras Al Ghoul.

It shouldn't. It wasn't very good.

Nvm.
Basically, I liked TDKR less than the other two Batman movies, but I liked it more than any other superhero movies in the past few years.

The one flaw I can really see is how Batman gets back into Gotham after having no money and the city is completely on lockdown.

Which is a flaw I don't see. Bruce Wayne trained with the League of Shadows, an organization that prides itself on the art of invisibility and deception. Not only that...in Batman Begins we saw he could walk and fight on ice without any problems. It stands to reason that he could have snuck into the city without being seen.
Also...he traveled the world for seven years in Batman Begins with little to no money. You don't think he could have figured out a way back to Gotham in the same vain?
Also...the person who said Nolan was trying to stay as far away from the comics as possible doesn't know what they are talking about. Batman Begins took a lot of its inspiration from Batman: Year One - one of the greatest Batman graphic novels ever written (perhaps THE greatest). The Dark Knight took much of its material from Batman #1, The Killing Joke and The Long Halloween - the two latter titles being among the most influential Batman stories to come in the last quarter century. The Dark Knight Rises was obviously inspired by Knightfall, No Man's Land, and The Dark Knight Returns - once again, three of the most celebrated Batman graphic novels.

True Confession: I've never seen TDK all the way through.

I really like this movie and the whole series in general, but what I want to know is how the he'll the entire lake froze solid? Has that ever happened before?
