Dark Knight Rises
Posted by Clark W Griswold on 7/5/13 at 10:55 am014
Just saw it for the first time. That was pure shite compared to the first 2 with Bale. Did anyone really enjoy it?

agree execpt the 2nd one wasn't as good as you think it was. the last 1/3rd was terrible

I really enjoyed it
A lot of plot holes but i liked it. May have been better served if they broke it into two movies

I'm in the minority, but I still really enjoyed it. But my expectations were so high for that movie it's ridiculous. No way it could've lived up to people's expectations.

I didn't love it, I enjoyed a lot of it despite it's obvious flaws. My least favorite of three. It's the most "comic booky" of the trilogy. I really felt it should've been longer, or made into two movies. I don't begrudge it for over reaching, "it's better to have dared greatly..."

Thought it was meh the first time. Like it more as I've watched it again. Still think it should've been broken into two movies.

It was my favorite of the 3.

This is the best post I have read on Tigerdroppings in regards to The Dark Knight Rises.
By Michael T. Tiger
Yoda trained Jedi for more than 800 years. So he loses a fight with the emperor, goes into hiding and tells Obi-Wan he should do the same. "Yeah, this is going to be bad for the galaxy but to hell with it. I'm going to Dagobah and hiding out."
Bruce Wayne goes off and trains for seven years to be the ultimate detective, fighting machine. He comes back to Gotham City and defeats Ra's Al Ghul in a matter of weeks. As soon as he is finished doing that, Lt. Jim Gordon hips him to The Joker, he says he'll look into it. In Nolan's universe, it then takes TWO years for Batman to capture the Scarecrow and he's so worried about the mob that only now, when the mob turns to the Joker, is he really ready to do anything about it. In what again seems like no more than a couple of weeks, he puts down the mob, the Joker, and Two-Face, but loses what he believes to be the love of his life in the process and hangs up the cape and cowl as an outlaw, hated and despised. Eight years later, Batman returns to defeat Bane. This process takes about five or six months. Then he retires again.
So, for all of his training and his sworn duty to fight the criminal element in all manner to avenge the loss of his father and mother, Bruce put the cowl on for just a little over two and a half years total and ran away when the going got tough?
Anyone else have a problem with this?

The amount to which opinions can vary is amazing.

Two and a half years of the toll on his body, in addition to the emotional strain, plus he went out on top...he had about the average career of an NFL player while saving the city three times. Pretty good run if you ask me.

I liked it but need to see it again to put my final judgement on it.

Funny, I just watched it last night for the second time and thoroughly enjoyed it again, maybe even more.
The only thing distracting when you see it a second time is knowing the Talia twist.
I've now seen Avengers & tDKR, and tTDK is a better film and more enjoyable and more compelling IMO.

After training for nearly seven years though.
I also wouln't call the shape Gotham was in at the end of The Dark Knight Rises, as "going out on top".
From the moment Bruce became Batman the city of Gotham only got worse, and he is responsible for a lot of it.

Just like a short term pro goes thru high school and college practice, then their careers are over.

It was better than being a nuclear wasteland. Plus, he went from being a wanted man, to having a statue erected of himself. Statues equal championships, or that you did something really cool.

Didnt he effectively eliminate crime for almost a decade? It also wasn't his fault that the League of Shadows planned on destroying Gotham...twice, but he did stop them both times.
You could maybe blame the Joker on Batman.

No one cares what you think
Not that they care what I think, either.

How in the hell did Wayne heal and rehab his broken spine in roughly 6 months? without a doctor and/or surgery. The prsioner set his spine and he did pushups and situps for 6 months and he's all better? I'm no Dr. but I'm pretty sure the recovery on a broken spine is much longer than 6 months. Bane broke that motherfricker just like he said he would. Nad bane would've ended him if it wasn't for the feline

TDK actually takes place several months after Batman Begins. So Bruce was Batman probably around a year when you add it all up. Seems a little anticlimatic.
What I didn't get was he retired after TDK, yet he still built the Batcave? Also, what the hell is John Blake going to do with the Batcave when its sitting under a boy's home?

I think youve got your facts all kind of backwards here
