I also had a serious problem with Blake knowing Wayne is Batman. The fact that he knew didn't bother me, but he figured it out because he was also an orphan? I'm sorry, but that is fricking stupid.

This movie is going to be very contested on this board for a very long time.

I loved it and it's a great movie. Sure there are some plotholes but they don't even really come close to ruining the movie. They do though for someone who's trying to nitpick the frick out of this movie.

Great Trilogy.

Ranked:

TDK
TDKR
BB

I really find it funny that people are ranking BB last. The movie was about his journey and training to becoming Batman. For those complaining that he wasn't Batman early enough in it, think how long it took before Christopher Reeve shows up as Superman. Plus, I remember sitting there at the end of BB when the Joker card is flipped and the promise the archvillian to come and thinking how much Bob Kane would have enjoyed the movie. It was a very good origin story and a better movie than TDKR.

I did just realize one interesting parallel:

1989 Batman: He's already Batman and origin told in flashback.

2002 Batman Begins: Linear story

1978 Superman: Linear story

2013 Man of Steel: Gown up with story of youth told in flashbacks

It's also because of the cult of Nolan always wanting to find extra meanings and plot twists that they believe to be unnoticed by ordinary movie viewers.

That's because Avengers was a solid film. The big difference is that Whedon knew he was making a comic book movie, Nolan decided to go a different route. While I absolutely loved Batman Begins, the series as a whole has WAY too many plot holes because Nolan kept trying to get away from the comic and it hurt him.

1. Where did the motorcycles come from in the stock market?

2. The whole nuclear bomb fiasco at the end, Batman should have been dead.

3. Wayne loses his parents, is inspired to put an end to evil and crime in Gotham. He loses his bff, Rachel and he wants to call it quits?

4. When the movie went through so many scenes and explanation of how Gotham was truly isolated, why don't they show Wayne getting back in? How did he get back into Gotham? He had no connection w/ Alfred or Fox, none of his gear, no money, HOW DID HE GET BACK IN?!

5. His voice is awful, we know that, but why does he do it around Morgan Freeman who knows he's Wayne?

6. John Blake knowing Wayne was Batman and also knowing where Gordon fell out of the sewers after a thug says there was no way to know where he'd end up or something. Not sure if this was meant to be funny, but it just came off pretty dumb.

7. Where is the security at football games where your mayor is attending it? Bane literally just walks right onto the field.

8. Why in the NAME OF GOD did they send over 3,000 cops underground? Seriously, this is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. "Hey guys, we have word Bane is underground, want to send a unit to check it out?" "NOPE! SEND THEM ALL, We don't have any other criminals in this city".

9. One of my biggest problems with the film right here. Batman is the master of strategy and planning an attack. He goes one on one with Bane and gets destroyed. What is his strategy for beating Bane the next time? Going one on one with him again. WHAT?!!? No gadgets or plans of how to deal with him, just him fighting and winning because he lands a lucky shot to the mask.

I thought it was awful and I really liked the first two...
We almost left and my wife slept thru half of it...
Besides the 20 or so plot holes, the voices of the two main characters were aggravating and difficult to understand.

The hand to hand combat stuff when everyone has guns is just so hard for me to get past....I wouldn't sit thru that crap again if you paid me...

While I understand the logic behind some of these posts, I must remind you that you are realistically analyzing a movie in which a grown adult billionaire dresses up in a bat costume to fight crime.

This.

I am a Nolanite but I am not one who finds any hidden meanings in his Batman films. They are meant to be entertainment, not works of art. I watch films like Memento and The Prestige to be challenged by Nolan.

the more I watch the film the more I like it. It's flawed but so are the other films in the trilogy. I enjoy this one more than TDK

Of course all three films are flawed. I have yet to watch a single comic book movie that I haven't had a small gripe with.

I completely agree. People nitpick these films way too much. What's funny to me is how much scrutiny this movie and superman have received, but as another poster mentioned The Avengers seems to get a pass.

It's truly annoying how this board will break down a Nolan film like it's a goddamn Fellini movie or something. Zomg did the top really keep spinning? Is Bruce really dead? Good god, this board is atrocious for film discussion.

Funny because it seems to me there is a resident anti-Nolan cult dedicated to assiduously poring over his movies and dissecting every possible flaw.

But since it's Nolan his flaws are unpardonable and utterly deprive his films of every merit

Yeah. I post on a couple of other movie boards and it's always the same thing. You're either a hater, or a Nolanite. There's no middle ground.
