By far the worst out of the trilogy. Not even close.

I just couldn't get into Batman Begins. It took WAY too long to get to the "Batman" part of the movie.

TDKR isn't amazing or anything but it's a lot better than The Avengers which a lot of people on here want to give a pass for some reason.

This is the best post I have read on Tigerdroppings in regards to The Dark Knight Rises.

I agree with Tactical1...for obvious reasons.

My "going got tough" comment when I posted this originally was in light of Harvey's death. Hell, you would think that Gordon and Batman would have at least thought about pinning Harvey's death on the Joker...especially since the Joker was on record as having scarred the guy for life and then blowing up the hospital he was in. Hell, I'll write the statement for them...

"Today, Harvey Dent died due to complications from injuries sustained by multiple attacks committed by the Joker."

Done.

I really like all three movies. I just think for a trilogy that was set up to be in as real a universe as possible, Batman is a flake for hanging up the cowl after so short a time period. Yeah, I get it, the city was "saved" with Harvey's death and the Dent Act, but Batman was still needed. I'm still not sure how he damaged his knee enough to impede his career. He was running away at the end of TDK. I guess he was hyped up on adrenaline.

TDKR's failing in this universe is to think that after eight years of "peace," Gotham's citizens suddenly go bat-shite crazy, riot and loot other people's homes after some Darth Vader looking guy tells them to do so...What?...All of a sudden people turn into the Katrina Heinekin looter because they need to "take control of their city?" I had a hard time buying that above all else. Well, except for the fact that there is NO mention of the Joker, the force of chaos that brought him to this low in the first place.

I get the respect for Heath Ledger thing, but not mentioning the Joker at all, especially when EVERY criminal is let out of Blackgate and Arkham and is running the show (a la Scarecrow as the judge) is really an injustice to the arc that was created.

I applaud sticking to your principles to honor a fallen friend in real life, but the storytelling really suffered for it in this case. The issue is, it could not have just been covered with a suitable throw away line either. There's no way the Joker stays away from Gotham for years if he escapes.

Not only that but Gotham is in America right?

5 months and the Feds just let a madman shut down THE American city? For 5 fricking months? And do Nothing?

My main problem with TDKR

2 hour movie, Bane is the main antagonist throughout the movie, and he dies by catwoman in 1/2 a second by being shot? You would think 1 of the thousands of police officers might have figured that one out. "he's too strong how can we ever beat him? He wears that scary mouth breathing thing and no body armor, surely there is a way we can kill this guy... I guess not, let's just pack our balls up and get trapped underground."

Has anyone brought up the question of whether Bruce Wayne lived or died yet? Was the final scene all in Alfred's head?

I just watched it for the third time- And based upon a renewed interest in Hardy's performance the movie became so much better. I watched it based upon the thread the other day commenting upon the first fight between Bane and Batman and how brutal it was...and I came away with a new appreciation for the film. It was much better than the first two viewings. Hathaway and JGL's performance also got better for some reason. It wasn't as visually stunning as TDK, but it had its moments.

Then the entire battle between cops and criminals where guys with guns just run straight at each other, shooting like crazy.

That entire scene was dumb as frick.

Talia was ruined as a character. Why should we care about her at all?

For such a mediocre movie, it sure does get discussed incessantly on here. What has there not been a TDKR thread on the first page?

I think it's because some think its great and others (like myself) wanted it to be great but found it lacking

But then you can still look at the first fight ( which like above should be viewed more than once) and then ppl want to know if Bruce lived
