Love both, but I'll give the nod to Candy. Not for his movies (which I do enjoy), but for being Johnny LaRue on SCTV...that shite cracked me up hard

One of my favorite Candy lines was "Is anyone here from Penthouse magazine?....then we ain't talkin'!"

Spaceballs and The Great Outdoors were both funnier than any Farley movie, and I loved Tommy Boy as a teen. Then you throw in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, and Nothing But Trouble. It's not even close.

Cool runnings was one of my favorite movies as a child, so I'll go with candy. Also used to like the movie Canadian bacon with candy.
Farley is also one of my favorite, loves tommy boy and black sheep. My favorite Farley role was the bus driver in billy Madison.

If you want to laugh then Chris Farley. John Candy wasn't even on his level of being funny. But Candy was the better actor and overall entertainer I think.

Cool Runnings is still one of my favorites today. Candy was also great in Home Alone - Gus Polinski, Polka King of the Midwest.

What were their ages when they died? Candy had his best years but Farley didn't

This.

Farley was 33 when he died (Candy was 43). When Candy was 33 he had done Stripes, Vacation, some other small stuff. Not really a fair comparison for Farley.

Big screen you have to go Candy. If I could have one of them as a buddy, give me Farley. He could make anything funny and everyone seemed to love him. Farley was my favorite as a kid and probably the only Hollywood death that ever shook me.

Tom Tuttle. Tacoma, Washington.

John Candy was such a comedic genius that he could make that line funny as hell. He's one of the great sketch comedians of all time as well. His SCTV stuff is amazing.

I liked both quite a bit. I mostly think of SNL with Farley and movies with Candy. I haven't watched any of the SCTV with Candy in over 25 years but would like to if I could find episodes somewhere.
