re: Biking 30 miles in sept and need advice - Bonnie Blue
I've done several centuries and find the best thing for me has been peanut butter and honey sandwiches. Bonk breakers are ok too. I like plain ole bananas as well. Screw those cliff bars. For 30, I wouldn't bring much-- eat a little before and you should be good....

re: OT Runners: Quick Question - Bonnie Blue
If on the outside of your knee, it could be I-T band issues. I've been struggling with that for a while now. Sounds like similar issues that I have. I found stretching and foam roller have helped quite a bit. ...

re: General Backpacking Thread - Bonnie Blue
Look at the Eagle Rock Loop Trail in Arkansas. About 30 miles or so with some pretty nice elevation change. Get an internal frame pack no question. I've had Gregory packs, Osprey packs, and Lowe Alpine packs. I personally like either Gregory or Osprey. For 2 weeks, depending on how long between...

re: Campers of the OT - Bonnie Blue
Take a look at Savage Gulf about 45 north of Chattanooga, essentially 3 separate loops that are joined by connector trail. Prob about 55 miles or so total. Its by far the nicest in middle tennessee in my opinion and i've hiked quite a few trails here....

re: Cold Weather Running Gear Advice - Bonnie Blue
I have been very impressed with REI branded clothing for running in the cold. Reasonably priced and works well. Granted i'm only in Nashville and not Boston, but so far this year I have run several times in the 20's. Ended up buying an REI winterflyte jacket and mittens which seem to be alot warme...

re: How were German armored divisions so much more elite than their US counterparts - Bonnie Blue
[quote]If you are talking about WWII, the US was not even close to a world power. Britain and France viewed the US as a lot of bodies to get mowed down because in their eyes that is all we were. They also knew we could mass produce the shite out of machinery and equipment because we were the only cou...

Just did a similar trip on a motorcycle. Started in Nashville stayed in Collinwood,TN, second night at Tishomingo SP in Miss. Very nice place. Then made it to Natchez, stayed there and came back. Fall is nice. Beginning/middle of October would be my suggestion. Tons of deer and Turkey especial...
