There’s a major shakeup today on 20th Century Fox’s side of the Marvel Universe as The Wrap is reporting that Channing Tatum has exited the upcoming X-Men spinoff, Gambit. The film was planned to go before cameras in October, although Tatum’s exit now leaves the film’s future uncertain.

I nominate josh Hartnett. Could be his breakout role 13 years too late.

Can we make Harry Connick Jr 20 years younger and less goofy looking?

Seems so odd because he seemed really into doing this. Hopefully it's either false or they find someone, really want to see this movie happen

I thought he was in Apocalypse, which is now filming? Did he drop out of that too?

That might have had something to do with it. Too many jeers from the nerds.

Thanks, God. I promise I'll stop fantasizing about kinky sex with Pentacostal chicks.

Yea I wasn't digging this casting. Honestly I think they should probably scrap the whole thing.

Word is that they (Tatum's people) want to renegotiate the contract.

Jackman is out, JLaw and Fassenbender's contract's are up.

That leaves Tatum and RR as the only bankable stars in Fox-Marvel.

Fox should do the smart thing and cut a Sony type deal with Marvel after Wolverine 3 and XMenA.

and because of the nature of the character (4th wall breaking) RR could stay on as Deadpool.

Need to scrap the whole Fox continuing to solely own Marvel IPs already.

The FF4 reboot looks like garbage, only thing good going on is the recent X-Men movies, but they could easily gonna run it into the ground after Apocalypse. And not even gonna have Hugh Jackman as Wolverine soon.

I'm still floored that after 15 years of Xmen films, we've still yet to see a decent Gambit. Is it that much to ask?

Well Gambit sucks as character

quote:

He was utterly superfluous from the beginning, an edgy Wolverine figure shoehorned into a team that already had a pretty good edgy Wolverine figure in Wolverine. At one point early on, we saw him fight Wolverine to a standstill in the Danger Room while Wolverine’s protégé Jubilee cried in the control booth. It was supposed to establish him as someone not to be trifled with. Even at 13 I understood this to be bullshite.

A word about the trench coat: It’s really long. Totally practical for a master thief who engages in a lot of hand-to-hand combat. He wears fuschia body armor underneath it. He speaks in phonetic-Cajun dat’s-dem-dere dialogue, like someone making fun of Dr. John. He calls men homme or mon ami. He calls women “mam’zelle” and chere, and this inevitably causes women to swoon over him, since one of his superpowers is an almost irresistible charm. People write fan fiction about his relationship with Rogue, who can’t touch anyone for fear of draining their energy; you can tell it’s fan fiction because nobody ever notices that Remy is a smarmy creep.

Repeating for emphasis: One of his mutant powers is super-sexiness. His other mutant power is the ability to “charge” any object with kinetic energy, which thanks to some don’t-worry-about-it comic-book pseudoscience means he can turn anything into a bomb that explodes on contact. He’s done it many, many times, to many different kinds of objects, but mostly, instead of throwing something practical and easily throwable like batteries or coins or three-quarter-inch bolts or, oh, I don’t know, knives, he throws playing cards.
