You know what I wish i could add to this list. The Red Balloon. I was talking to my girlfriend last night. She's 6 years younger than me. She's never seen it. I guess kids don't watch it in school anymore.

Braveheart hasn't aged well, I figured Gladiator would far outshine it. Lord of the Rings fall into the "too popular" category generally. And the Departed is far more over rated than Fight Club.

And yeah Shawshank Redemption and Citizen Kane are both well-loved for different reasons.

You're not missing much...of course I'm in the minority on that opinion. I'm also shocked at one of yours, Donnie Darko. With it's large following I'd figure it would get some play, but you're the first one to mention it.

yeah that one had me thinking for weeks...once i figured it out i was like man thats genius

i've seen alot of oldies on here like casablanca citizen cane etc..but the only real classics ive seen are streetcar named desire and the great gatsby and i dont know if those qualify although ill say streetcar named desire had a ton of symbolism in it

PS...kinda surprised at lack of platoon as well

Not enough foreign movies in the 100. Only 1 Bergman and Kurosawa, no Fellini, no Tarkovsky. But that kind of stuff to be expected.

1) I admit I'm lacking in experience with foreign films, and 2) I've always found Bergman ridiculously pretentious (Wild Strawberries was one of the [unintentionally] funniest movies I've ever seen)

Anyone else here seen Da Duve (The Dove), the hilarious parody of Bergman made in 1968?
