I guess the only way they could have staged is knowingly putting one of them in with a bear family.

It is kind of weird he got to his spot at 9AM, plenty of time to explore and find the bears, while others said they got there a couple of hours before sun set. guess they only had one boat / heli to transpo everyone :D

So what is the premise of this show? Is it a competition? From reading this thread, I'm asusming people are left out in the wilderness by themselves and with ten items they chose to bring, and they have to go as long as they can or something like that?

Where are the people? Are they all in the same place/area? Is there a "winner"? Etc.

Seems like it could be sort of interesting, if I knew a little more about it.

I found this on that link someone posted:
quote:

Ten men enter the Vancouver Island wilderness carrying only what they can fit in a small backpack. They are alone in harsh, unforgiving terrain with a single mission–stay alive as long as they can. These men must hunt, build shelters and fend off predators. They will endure extreme isolation and psychological distress as they plunge into the unknown and document the experience themselves. No camera crew. No producers. It is the ultimate test of man’s will.

That answered most of my questions.

Also, is Sam Larson fricking Badger from Breaking Bad? Holy shite..

The last man standing wins $500,000. One guy tapped out after the first night. We'll have to wait to see how many nights the winner actually lasted.

I don't know why but I want to say it's 60 days max and those left split the pot or the last one standing.. I'm probably wrong but I just remember reading something like that somewhere.. Need to watch the the middle 1/3 of the first show before tonight's episode.. Intrigued to say the least about this show..

Not sure how much they can stage since they're doing the filming.

How are they getting the batteries charged on the camera used to film themselves?

That's what i was wondering. Maybe the producers on the boat come and swap them out.

In the second episode it was mentioned that they have four cameras and one guy said he wasn't sure how to charge them since he isn't tech savy. I am guessing they have a solar charger for the camera batteries. Another observation is that they are within 5 miles of each other for the most part. I wonder if there is anything against them teaming up and surviving together? Really cool show so far IMO.

There are natural barriers that keep them separate. Rivers, ridge lines, tidal swamps, and other things to keep them in a general area. I think after the first guy left that it left one guy remaining on the bear island.

I was certain that the guy who lost his firestarter was going to win. He's screwed now.

I was laughing at the guy who got all excited about finding clay. He legitimately thought he was going to build a cabin and use the clay to chink the logs and build and an indoor fireplace.

Relax bro. Try to find some food.

Fantastic show so far.. The amount of fear they have is the most realistic thing Ive seen on TV in quite some time. Old Wayne was in a tough spot last night with that bear..It was all over his camp and didnt seem the least bit concerned with his attempts to get rid of him.

My money at this point is on Alan.... if he can control his emotional state. Lucas cant give up that quickly on building a solid structure as Im of the belief that a cabin would be the key long-term.. You obliviously need to cement your water source and food sources but building a habitable cabin would give you something to do and provide hope.. Most importantly, it would keep your mind working and allow you to sleep securely.

I wonder what the parameters are with the bears and other animals.. If you could possibly plan an attack strategy to kill one for security and meat.. Dig a pit with punji sticks to trap or something similiar

I just started watching last night a single episode and my family are all hooked now. I like Alan, he seems the one that could live off the land the easiest. Good ol country boy

Man i wish i had done SERE training when i was in the service so I could join this show.... 4 guys drop in 4 days , its like they specifically looked for the weakest individuals they could find mentally. All the previews hint at the other guys pussing out because they cant handle being away form their families after like a week. are you shitting me? Try deploying for a year, bitches. black bears have killed 61 people since 1900. Cougars have killed 20. a simple google search shows how bitch made black bears really are, yet I'm supposed to believe none of these guys researched that before they went? i dont think its rigged i just think like i said they specifically picked weak minded people they knew would back out. Still will watch and hopefully one of them grows some balls. Rooting for GA guy AKA Alan AKA julia childs. Predicting an easy victory by Mitch.
