re: Worst bowl game to go to, from the perspective of the player

It's all based on perspective.
I think it would suck to travel to a colder local than your school.
Also, if you're a team like USC or Notre Dame and going to El Paso; Georgia and going to Shreveport, you'll be disappointed.
This year, I would say Maryland would be most disappointed.
They're an ACC team moving to the Big 10 and playing Marshall 10 miles from home (still in the cold weather) in a stadium used for soccer and worthy of demolition.

It is probably no accident that this crap bowl pulled arguably the biggest "name" matchup of the pre Jan 1 bowls.

It must suck when Hawaii gets invited to the Hawaii Bowl. Or when any team's bowl game is literally down the road.

Wasn't there one year where one of the Hawaii Bowl teams had a hard-arse coach who made them practice the entire trip? I imagine that would suck the worst--get invited to Hawaii and then not get to enjoy it.

Pretty sure it is in the Hawaii Bowl's contract that Hawaii, if eligible, must play there unless picked for a BCS game.

Idaho should be #1, and it's not even close.

Charlotte seems like a fairly decent place for a bowl game as far as cities go, although the game is sometimes pretty cold. It's not a vacation destination like New Orleans, Nashville, or San Diego, but it's not nearly as bad as some others.
Having spent time in most of the bowl cities, for me the worst by far is El Paso. I find it very ugly aesthetically and disagree that it's scenic. The city seems much smaller than its 19th ranked population. It's a very working class/Walmart type of city with very few upscale neighborhoods.
Boise is probably second. It's a much nicer city than El Paso overall, but it's winter and who wants to go to an above average city for a bowl game in the winter?
Both cities are also predominantly one race/culture and have very few black people. To me that is a negative, others may disagree.

Boise is fine for me as a 30 year old white guy who likes the outdoors, microbrews and cold weather.
As a 19 year old black athlete, I'm sure it would be awful.

El Paso is such a shite town. I was driving through it last December when the USC players where complaining about being there. Think about going from LA to El Paso lol. All the El Paso residents where upset that someone could disrespect their city and the "historic" Sun Bowl.

The Godaddy bowl has to be the least favorite for the players. It is in mobile and it's in Janurary. That means a whole extra month of practice and they dont get to go home for Christmas or New Years. If I were a player I'd be fine with missing those holidays if I were in a BCS bowl, but not the Godaddy bowl.

How is Nashville a vacation destination for a young football player?
I give in on El Paso.
I'd still go there over Shreveport any day.

I don't know much about Nashville, but I've heard that it's a popular vacation destination. It has more than country music doesn't it?

I totally misinterpreted the question. I thought he meant strictly from the game experience itself.

All joking aside, the Sun Bowl is "historic" isn't it? For some reason, I always find myself watching the Sun Bowl

What does THIS have to do with anything???

El Paso is actually a pretty great bowl site in the Winter. Boise is much worse.

I think it probably is, but not so sure young football players would think so.
