Idk if they would allow the teams to go visit Ciudad Juarez where the State Department has a travel warning. Some of them may not come back.

When we went to the Poinsettia Bowl the first thing we did after we got off the plane and got to the hotel was sit in a conference room and have the San Diego Chief of Police tell us not to go to Tijuana under any circumstances.

Our coaches also told us not to go and if anyone did they would be sent home on a greyhound bus. Lo and behold 3 guys ended up going, got caught and got sent home on a greyhound.

People need to stop hating the bowl in Boise... never went but I heard they give you a parka and you get to go tubing/sledding.

3 bowls I went to as a player were Poinsettia, Fiesta, Rose... all were awesome in their own ways.

The worst bowl to go to would be a bowl game in your home stadium. No travel, no staying in a hotel and all the events you would do as a team would be things you can do any day of the year.

I'd think Boise would be the worst. Nobody wants to get rewarded for a bowl game by having to go play in ice and 0 degree temperatures.

Where are you getting this information? I'd like to see all of the bowls.

So what is Gary Patterson really like?

How much do you hate SMU?

Can you confirm the existence of Andy Dalton's soul?

How likable is Casey Pachall? Every time I see that dude, it makes me angry for no particular reason.

I went to the Sun Bowl once and it was beyond shitty. Add to the horrible city of El Paso, it's cold there and right across the river from a huge shanty town and the crime infested city of Juarez.

I don't know much about Nashville, but I've heard that it's a popular vacation destination. It has more than country music doesn't it?
Nashville has a big music scene. Now a majority of that is country, but there is a mix of all of it. Not sure what all the players get to do when they are there for the MCB, but I think they have a good time.

I know for the Belk Bowl in Charlotte, they typically take the guys out to the racetrack at Concord and give them a few laps in one of the Petty Experience cars - not sure if they let them drive or just let them do ride-alongs. There is (or was) a big shopping/entertainment complex up there that had a really nice go cart track that the guys could drive on.

I am really curious as to what the teams that come to Atlanta for the Peach Bowl do.

Boise is cold....but at least they have mountains...mountains might be cool for some guys that have never seen mountains before?

Boise should be #1 on this list and it should not even be an argument. IMO most of the players could give a shite if they ever see a mountain, especially when it comes at the expense of spending 5-7 days in Boise.

I had a two buddies that played football at NC State. They both preferred Nashville to Atlanta. Now, at Atlanta, it was the opening game of the season against Tennessee, but they said it was treated as a "shorter" bowl week without the gifts. Keep in mind that these are Jack White, Black Keys/microbrew fans, so they were in heaven in Nashville. I'm sure the defensive secondary preferred ATL to Nashville.

I think this year for Arkansas State, they have to feel apathetic about their bowl game.

not only will this be the third year in a row to play here for a bowl, but they also had to play here during the regular season against the South Alabama Jags.

there is a parade for the fans during the week leading up to the game but it in no way compares to the real Mardi Gras atmosphere of this city.

-there are less people to watch it.
-there are fewer bands that march in it.
-fewer floats.
-small parade route.

I'm sure it doesn't matter to those folks though.

oh, and I wouldn't recommend going to Gulf Shores or Dauphin Island. Not exactly a good idea to go to the beach in early January.

Great guy off the field, at practice though he is a different animal. Becomes the meanest guy you ever meet... in a good way. Doesn't cut any corners. But he only controls the defense, has nothing to do with offense, which is where the team suffered this year.

I like SMU, I want them to do better than they have been. Students are annoying though

Dalton = Good guy. People can criticize him for a lot but he is a good guy off the field. As good of a role model as it gets

Pachall was really quiet when I was there. We were teammates for 2 seasons. Didn't say much but we all knew he was into some bad things and hung out with the wrong crowd. Was not surprised at anything.

Charlotte isn't a terrible place to go for a bowl game. The worse part if I remember correctly is that both teams go to a Bobcats game during the trip.

Each bowl is different. For the Fiesta Bowl we did NOTHING as a team except go to Fogo de Chao one night for dinner. Apart from that we were always on our own which kind of sucked since there isn't much to do in Scottsdale. For the Poinsettia Bowl we went to the Zoo and some indoor go-kart track.

But for the Rose Bowl they had something for us to do every day we were there. We got there on Christmas Eve, and then:

Dec 25 - Bowling at Lucky Strike
Dec 26 - Disneyland
Dec 27 - Lawry's Beef Bowl
Dec 28 - Comedy Club with Chappelle's Show stars
Dec 29 - Clippers Game
Dec 30 - Pink's Hot Dog Buffet
Dec 31 - Team Photo and In-N-Out Luncheon

It was ok, some guy who used to play for Washington and works for ESPN was the emcee and it was a really long and drawn out event. Food was OK but nothing special. Was more of an event for the Rose Bowl bigwigs to pat eachother on the back and their donors than the players for sure but looking back yeah it was great to be there.

Also the stats of which team ate more beef are completely made up. The winner of that is pre-determined.

Here are a couple pics I took though(they frowned upon cameras for some reason):
