More of a coonass population than a redneck population. But that differentiation is for a whole different thread.

This is last I checked the more sports board. NASCAR is not a sport. Ergo this thread should not be here.

And to answer your question probably because people in Louisiana are more sane than those in the states you listed.

If NASCAR put a track in north Louisiana somewhere, the state would embrace it more.

Personally, I hate it.

Why don't start it by making your first pass

I can't speak for the whole state, but I just don't find it very entertaining.

You know what is surprisingly entertaining though, Bowling Skins Game matches. Lot of tension in those things. Seriously.

The same reason Alabama as a whole couldn't really care less about the NFL - there is no NFL franchise in Alabama. Put a track in Louisiana and the outlook might change real quick.

You better check again. It is a motorsport and that discussion has been had before.

IMO, La has many other things that people focus on that keeps them entertained than racing in general. The lack of a big track is a product of the lack of small tracks which is what attacks the fans to the larger product of NASCAR.

I don't know if it's a sport, but it's certainly a competition. And I've never been to a live NASCAR event before, but I hear great things about them. If Louisiana had a track, you best believe people would attend.

Personally, I have lost interest in NASCAR but I do like watching the Daytona, Talladega and Indy events.

Yep. Except for the Mobile area, which seems to be Saints territory.

Didn't New Orleans or the state try to build a race track at some point. If they got a track people would support it.

A lot of people go to races in Alabama and elsewhere.
