there are plenty of Lousiana people at Talladega, Texas, and Atlanta races. if you think LA isn't into NASCAR you just havent been to any of the tracks above. I have been to all 3

I don't buy that. Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania have tracks, not many rednecks up there.

^What this guy said...every year I go to Talladega I see as many LSU flags and tents as I do Bama or Burner flags and tents. Local racing in Louisiana is also pretty big...though it has suffered recently due to the economy. Huge dirt track with tons of history in Baton Rouge and several tracks running in Central and North La...La drivers do pretty well when traveling to other states to race.

I do think, however, that most on this site that think NASCAR isn't a sport also think they know more about recruiting and coaching a college football team than the "professionals."

They were at one time. I use to work for the engineers for Talledega and they were doing a study on one around Amite. Wanted me to be inspector because I could speak the langage

Amite would be terrible location. Needs to be southwest Louisiana to get some of the east Texas crowd.

That's not what the study showed. Drawing from La. , MISS, Al....the whole South....no swamp
...If you haven't been to a race?...lots of motor homes from all over US....lots

So from a topographical standpoint Amite makes more sense than SW part of the state?

If 5% of CA's population is redneck, that's still twice the population of Louisiana.

Outside the major cities, those states are every bit as redneck as the South. Apart from the accent, you wouldn't know the difference.

Coastal California, correct.

Central California, whole different story.

Any chance it was going to be built in Kentwood? Just asking because my former boss was trying to get a track built up there not to long ago.
