I would love to see them compete for a real national championship.

Solid comeback big dawg... I'm by no means saying that Grambling would win the whole thing, but they have a lot of FBS-transfers on their roster, they would compete in the FCS playoffs.

Pioneer sends teams San Diego won a game in Playoffs this year.

3rd year they've been included.

What's the pioneer league? And I've never understood how a conference could make a school not go to a playoff or bowl invitation if invited

Zona lost 9 games, got clobbered by a 4-8 UCLA team and lost 70-7 to Wazzu.

They beat Grambling, Hawaii and ASU in a rivalry game at the end.

If they didn't have Hawaii and Grambling to start the year they would have gone 0-11 before their last game.

You're right... Grambling should have beat Arizona but for 6 turnovers...But beating or hanging with Zona this year is no measuring stick despite being a Power 5.

So who knows how'd they do, history isn't on their side.

Non scholarship football

Used to be D3 teams but when the NCAA didn't allow D1 teams to drop down they formed a conference

The swac sucks. They have never even beaten a southland team

I remember in 02 Grambling was supposed to be a top 5 fcs team and came to lake Charles to play McNeese. McNeese whipped that arse by 35

Wait so there's no longer any d3 football? It's just 1 conference in the fcs? Why wouldn't they play in d2 playoffs? And I thought southland has hbcu colleges in it?

yes they do have DIII football

Mary-Hardin Baylor just won their 1st Stagg Bowl title (yes... the DIII Title Game is called the Stagg Bowl)

Here's this year's bracket

ETA: and just in case you're wondering... here's the DII bracket too

Alabama (well... North Alabama) denied a DII title

ETA2: back on DIII... Mary-Hardin Baylor is in the same conference (American Southwest) as Louisiana College, which is located in Pineville

The SWAC and their schools need to dissolve. Their purposes are antiquated in 2016.

Delaware State got in a few years ago and got absolutely clobbered by Delaware.

This is one of my favorite little known stories.

Delaware State was always begging Delaware to play them but Delaware was always like buzz off we don't want to waste our time playing you. Delaware State basically said Delaware was racist and scared. Delaware State started popping off saying we'd whip them so they don't want to play. The story even made it all the way to ESPN of course and ESPN ran a little feature on it. Not long after that Delaware State gets matched with Delaware in the first round of the playoffs and Delaware beats shite out of them.

Well thank god you aren't in charge of which colleges should be open & which ones shouldn't.

No, no they wouldn't. NC A&T got trounced by Richmond in the first round, and there is no significant jump in talent that would give Grambling a better chance.
