I just don't see Burrow as a franchise QB.

That's the crux of the argument.

I'd the Bengals do, take him, even if they view Young as a better prospect.

#1 QBs don’t usually workout because the teams they go to are awful.

The consistent formula seems to be accumulate a bunch of young talent, then acquire your QB while the surrounding talent is developing and you’re still bad and win in the ensuing 2-3 years when everyone is on their rookie deals but playing at a high level.

Jimmy isn’t Tom Brady but if you think he’s Andy Dalton you don’t know football

Burrow will be back to sub 60% completion behind that O line

The Bengals are a QB career killer

And you can get that in FA.

You absolutely cannot get a SB quality QB in FA, save for Nick Foles.

Burrow. I think he’s the next generational NFL qb.

I can name 11 right now that worked out very well.

FWIW, I don’t disagree with this:

Sometimes you get lucky...

Denver in 2012. Peyton Manning.

The problem with building around a team with no QB is that you still will need a QB one day, and getting one is basically impossible outside the draft. If you really like Burrow as a franchise guy, you take him. You may never get another shot at a franchise guy.

I came in here prepared to say Young, but I totally agree with this.

Drew Brees exists. San Fran and Minnesota are doing alright. Broncos with Manning too. Steve Young.

Basically you're wrong

You have to be a decent franchise to get a guy like Manning or Farve.

Would you say he's in the top 10 in the NFL?

I'm intrigued because the way SF is built would suggest you go with Young, yet you said Burrow.

In other words you have to have a team built to get a good FA QB?

I would say Jimmy is significantly above replacement value.

You cannot win in the NFL with a replacement value QB

Hoping a QB hits FA because he has a major injury is not exactly a plan, is it?

You take Chase Young. It’s been shown you can win in NFL with elite Defenses. See Denver Seattle New England. All Super Bowl winners have great to elite Defenses.

Plus all they have to do is win the division to get in for a shot.

It’s a trick question anyways. You take Justin Herbert.
