Seriously? No knock on Wally but he was just a slightly above average LSU player that died young. Watching him play was not that awe inspiring. He would not be even near the same level as guys like Walker, Belle, Furniss, Big Ben.

Babe Ruth would've been an incredible time to be a sports fan. The guy completely changed the game. Hit more homers than an entire league. Made the longball a viable part of the game. No one has ever been that superior to their peers in sports (Wilt is really the only comparison and he's a distant second). He had an obscure backstory and he was truly a living legend, literally like a real life Paul Bunyan.
