First name that popped into my head. Chad Morris would be up there as well.

What is John L. Smith up to these days?

However, that could change. Overnight.
Uhhhh... yeah... it just did.

Morris is an Aggie and knows that if he can turn SMU around he can coach at his alma mater soon since that job is now held by the #1 guy in the hot seat.
With respect, if I'm Chad Morris, I take the Baylor job right now because the Bear's roster looks a lot better to me than SMU's does.
If winning now advances his career in the direction he wants to go, he has a better chance to do that at Baylor.

Herman is going to be a popular name but I highly doubt he takes it if offered.

I don't see Baylor as a significant title contender right now, but I do think they could be pretty good on the field after all this unless the NCAA drops some hammer
They have plenty of talent on the roster and there are tons of good spread coaches out there who can take over. Briles was supposedly making like 5-6 a year so they'll be able to offer quite a bit if he was fired with cause

Every "expert" that has commented so far says that the whole episode isn't really a likely NCAA problem, but instead a Title 9 problem.
I dunno, the NCAA likes to take action in cases where they really shouldn't be involved (Penn State) but avoid doing anything in cases where they should shut the program down for rampant open cheating (Ole Miss).

Phil Bennett may not get the job because of the Sam Ukwuachu affair. Last summer he was at a Baylor fundraiser and stated the he expected Sam U to return to the team for the upcoming season. He made this statement even though he knew Sam U was indicted a year earlier for sexual assault and he was due to stand trial in only a few weeks.

no one worth their salt leaves this late in the game to take BU. Look at Mike Shula and Alabama. Unless you find a retired or unemployed coach who would commit to a year
Bill Curry.
Give him three years and 8 million dollars, 1 million on signing. 2 mill year one. school options on years 2 and 3 @ 2.5 mill a year.
anyhow, Curry seems like a decent human being, has all the experience in the world including 10 yr NFL vet.

Dude... I don't think you understand the gravity of the situation. The whole school is going to be turned upside down. This started all the way at the top with Starr and radiated out into the town with the Waco PD. The s**tshow they are going to have to endure is just beginning. Nobody with a promising future like Herman or Chad Morris wants anything to do with that. They can probably hire June Jones or John L. Smith.

They will go interim and never be heard of again.

Waco PD and Ken Starr leaving has jack shite to do with their football program going forward.
If no NCAA sanctions come, there are plenty of promising young mid major and FCS spread gurus who would take a Big 12 job in a heartbeat. They have rich boosters who have tasted success and don't want to return to the dumpster. If they hire the right guy, they will still be pretty good.
