Really think he was better. I still don't get why people thought he'd be a bust or at least were so dogmatic in their proclamations

What was Roethlisberger running, then?

3 years at Miami, OH:

854/1304 10829 yards, 80 TD, 23 INT

Without Cam, the Panthers are 0-8 and well on their way to another #1 draft pick in next years NFL draft.

Which would have been a good thing, cause that way they could draft Luck next year.

he is a terrific QB and no doubt he should be the #1 pick, I guess I'm just wondering why the scouts AND fans think so differently of the two as prospects,

What scouts do you know who didn't have cam as a top 20 or 1st round pick? Many had him going number one and an NFL team took him number 1.

I don't understand why you are so dumbfounded over this. It is not that hard to understand, luck is viewed as the superior, safer pick because of his offense which he started in at the D1 level for 3 years and was tremendously successful at it. Cam played in the spread option for 1 year at the D1 level. Had luck came out last year he would of been selected before came because of the known facts about him. It was unknown how cam would transition to a pro style offense where you need to throw from the pocket instead of running gimicky spread option offense. That being said, cam would of been the next qb taken off of the board because of his upside (being that if he could make the transition, he has all the tools to be a top qb)

freeman and big ben certainly were in basically a pro-style offense

I'd take Cam over Andrew Luck in a hearbeat. I'd trade any qb in the league for Cam right now except Aaron Rodgers. Not saying he's better than Brady/Brees right now, but when you factor in his youth i'd make that trade. Of course i'm all about swagtastic players so i am enormously biased

.that is just getting into too much detail and really as a host of good QBs in the NFL
Have proven...it's not really a big deal

how many spread option QBs are running shite in the NFL?

i think the only starters as of now are cam, tebow, and alex smith

they weren't running spread option as the base last year (although when he was younger, watching dalton run option was epic)

although they ran it more than KSU with freeman, who only had positive rushing yards once in 3 years

*ETA: cam ran the ball 264 times last year

this also. Have you listened to cam talk? If an NFL team interviewed cam and luck, there is no way they come out of that thinking cam as superior in any way (mentally)

i'm not even going to say that cam is even mediocre in intelligence. i'll say he's above-average

luck has a 3.9 at stanford in real classes. dude's really smart

like les said earlier...just b/c somebody is saying luck > cam in something doesn't mean they're saying cam sucks in that area

Aka...Have you seen the color of Cam's skin? No way any NFL team could think he was as superior mentally in any way

Luck is more polished, and that's the only real difference IMO.

Cam's "lack of intelligence is bullshite" and already been debunked in a nice article that came out last week.

Not sure what you're saying. Do NFL execs think Tebow is dumb? I didn't think that was the problem. I thought he just sucked

not to be racist but it is true

btw i dont think cam is stupid. I actually think he is smarter than most other black QBs. And biggest thing, he is willing to learn. He just wants to win.
