I'll keep the roster updated (players who are on active roster, and do not have expiring contracts that will not be renewed) in the OP and bump this anytime there's a move made this offseason.

Active Roster
# Pitchers

-- Juan Abreu (added to 40-man roster 11/5)
50 Jairo Asencio (formerly Luis Valdez)
37 Brandon Beachy
64 Kyle Cofield
-- Erik Cordier (added to 40-man roster 11/5)
-- Randall Delgado (added to 40-man roster 11/19)
-- Cory Gearrin (added to 40-man roster 11/19)
48 Tommy Hanson
15 Tim Hudson
63 Lee Hyde
49 Jair Jurrjens
11 Kenshin Kawakami
46 Craig Kimbrel
32 Derek Lowe
62 Stephen Marek
50 Cristhian Martinez
56 Mike Minor
58 Peter Moylan
34 Eric O'Flaherty
67 Jose Ortegano
36 Scott Proctor (signed new 1-yr deal 11/2)
39 Jonny Venters
# Catchers
16 Brian McCann
8 David Ross
# Infielders
-- Brooks Conrad
5 Freddie Freeman
2 Alex Gonzalez
19 Diory Hernandez
10 Chipper Jones
26 Dan Uggla (acquired from FLA for Infante and Dunn 11/16)
# Outfielders
23 Matt Diaz
22 Jason Heyward
-- Joe Mather (claimed off waivers from STL 11/3)
24 Nate McLouth
14 Martin Prado
2 Jordan Schafer
-- Matt Young (added to 40-man roster 11/19)

*Offered a contract to 1B/OF Eric Hinske as of 11/19

The next step is getting Kawakami off the roster. This obviously has to be cut down to 25, but not before Opening Day.

I wouldn't mind shipping one of our starting pitchers to fill that void for an outfielder. I know it may take some prospects but need to get someone who can hit for some sort of power numbers.

Is the plan to have Kimbrel or Venters close? Or is it going to be kind of a duel closer system/situation?

It has been rumored that Jurrjens is being shopped around, but I'm not sure if anything has/will come of that.

I'm sure we'll see a closer by committee similar to the days of Mike Gonzalez and Rafael Soriano.

Did tie the MLB for PH Grand Slams this season. He is nails as a pinch hitter, putting him out there in the field single handedly lost the Braves the NLDS, where they were clearly better than the Giants.

Someone else had two pinch hit grand slams last year?

Even though I'd prefer a closer by committee, it's going to be Kimbrel's job to lose as the full time closer. Fredi is a straight shooter and would much rather have that one guy he can count on. Venters 8th, Kimbrel 9th

Whatever.... Your team continuously chokes in the post season. Learn to get over it.

So what is it? Is your roster better with him on or off it?

Wow, coming from a fan of a team that was on a 56 year drought before last night?

The Giants should be sending Brooks Conrad a ring. Keep in mind the Braves where one strike away from going up 2-1 with another game at Turner.

Not getting to the playoffs very often vs getting there all the time and losing are two different stories.

My best friend is a die hard braves fan and he even admits this.

he was that guy who got the loss in the Mets/Cardinals game that went about 50 innings, right?

Yes. He is also the clear answer to our OF problems.

I can't wait until we go out and overpay some mediocre hitter who had a good year (McClouth) or sign some over the hill guy who is a waste of a roster spot (Glaus). There is also the possibility that we trade for a mediocre hitter who had a good year too though (Melky). Regardless, Wren won't actually do what it takes to get us a legitimate bat to stick in left or center.
